WARNING: Rather grim topic.

What hope for morality with such appalling people around.

And I pity the poor jury who will have to endure heartbreaking evidence.

I expect the severely understaffed NHS stopped it being picked up earlier - surely there are safety checks in administration of drugs.

Full marks to those who suspected something wrong and identified the common factor.

Still, we mustn't speculate or she won't get a "fair" trial.

sounds horrible. On the upside, cases like this are very rare. I wouldn't call it a once-in-a-lifetime case as my lifetime has encompassed Shipman too, but it's not a reason for utter despair.
I’ve literally just need reading about this - just horrific.
Has she been convicted?
If guilty she would fit my criteria for the death penalty.
Sandy, the trial is ongoing and the link says it may last six months
Similar to Beverley Allitt in 1991, so sadly not a once in a lifetime episode.
Horrendous.
She stands accused of killing more babies than beverly allit... what a horrible case.

Very strange that another likely serial killer is going on trial just a few days after peter tobin died... these people will always be among us it seems
Has she been convicted?
no the jury has been empanelled
the trial is expected to last 6 m
Manchester - so I think our view dont count TBH
6 dead and 7 attempted I think
so think about how long ONE trial takes and times 13

besides lurkers, there is only Clarion and myself in Manch
I shall wait until there is a conviction before comment.
except to make that comment letting us all know of course
you're allowed to comment on the deaths, ymb, just don't be too hasty identifying the person responsible. (Which I know you won't be.)
incredz one time the att-gen opined that discussion on the stupids was NOT discussion likely to sway a jury
( so erm AB I think counts on that one)
BUT
he didnt follow his own advice in other cases
and we can comment on evidence given on the day
so long as we add: she insists she didnt do it...

At present ( or today) I think it is opening speeches - very long opening speech
