Why would they do that? Seems ridiculous.
Or is it because they’re denying that there are going to be issues over the winter and may reflect badly on them?
There seems to be no rationale behind the decision.

Id like to see something although am sure any advice would be criticised by many including some on here as patronising/misunderstanding the scale of the problem/being out of touch/ignoring the real issues of cost of living crisis.... and on here some would find some reason to bring up Boris, bankers bonuses, davebro machine gunning immigrants

And how bizarre that Sturgeon is now against the building of nuclear power stations.

Is she? No idea why.
That said I saw no mention of her name in the link?
Care to start a thread of your own specifically on that subject? I’d rather stick to the issue in the OP.
Thanks awfully.
Are they going to advise stocking up with candles?
I think folks have already been frightened enough with publicity about energy costs without the gov pitching in with more scare tactics
Wonder how JRM took it as he signed it off ?.Nah don’t want to know …

But Rees-Moggins had already signed off on it, then Truss stepped in.
Is she going to micro-manage everything?
Or is she now becoming cautious or even paranoid after not fact-checking Kwarteng’s sums and running it by cabinet first?
Would the advice not be useful, regardless of possible power cuts?
Could be the goverment plan to have a party and all the lights on over power cutbacks in Downing Street Switchagate as it will be known
Rather extraordinary not to do this.
I’m sure it would not take a genius to do it in such a way that doesn’t “scare” people
I would imagine that they don't want to scare people into keeping all the heating switched off.

If it turns out there's a spike in hypothermia deaths they need to be able to say they didn't contribute to it.
//Are they going to advise stocking up with candles?//

Could be a bright idea Tilly.
Perhaps they’ve learnt from the recent past when they couldn’t do right for doing wrong and any advice they gave was pulled to bits. In the hard winter to come no one will be able to say they suffered because of government advice so this is probably an exercise in damage limitation.
All anyone needs to ask is: is it good for growth?
And if someone says “yes” then Bingo!
Back to the days of SOS :-)
SOS ?
Advice can be useful; but do we want public money spent to teach the public to suck eggs ? Without details of what the advice was to be, one can't really conclude much. Besides, we can't possibly have power cuts in the foreseeable future as we are so overflowing with electricity that we're even getting encouraged to run our vehicles on it; so clearly we're just fine, no worries.
Even though my answer has been removed, It's ok for one user to mention mechine gunning people, but not ok for another.
Have you reported the relevant post?
