'It's my right to have unprotected sex with anyone, anytime so don't judge me when I get some disease because it's all your fault' lisped a precious darling.

It’s called having a difference of opinion.

…but seeing as you’ve referred to it - what IS the bigger picture?

All I'm asking is if the disease doesn't target gay men much more than any other group then why all the commotion?
'Because it does' isn't much of an answer.

And just because I don't drape myself in a rainbow flag doesn't make me homophobic, no matter how much a boggle eyed queen might wish it did.

But the disease IS prevalent amongst gay men:

Also douglas9401 when you write:

“And just because I don't drape myself in a rainbow flag doesn't make me homophobic, no matter how much a boggle eyed queen might wish it did.”

It absolutely doesn’t make you homophobic. But the use of the phrases like “boggle eyed queen”, “lisped a precious darling”make you sound like a bit of a tool.
I doubt anyone would disagree that an effective vaccine programme needs to be found and rolled out. I am personally stunned at apparently how so much more promiscuous and sexually active the male gay community is than any other group and that is the sole reason that group is targeted by this disease but Sp and Untitled I assume are more in the know so that much I've learnt.

What I do find verging on the unbelievably selfish is you think a vaccine is the sole answer and these promiscuous gay men should take no responsibility or action for themselves. When the world was hit by the covid pandemic the vast majority absolutely DID change their behaviours to protect themselves and others. At least have the decency to suggest that perhaps promiscuity could be given a rest while this is sorted out? But no you are so proud of this behaviour you think the rest of us are jealous?
the main difference of opinion here is between people who want the most effective and realistic thing to be done to contain monekypox and people who want express their contempt for gay people for having too much sex….

judging gay people (or making fun of them) is not going to help… vaccinating them will.

it is shocking yes… i forget where i read it now but if you look at the average partners the disparity is huge. Not a judgement but it does seem to be true…

“ At least have the decency to suggest that perhaps promiscuity could be given a rest while this is sorted out? But no you are so proud of this behaviour you think the rest of us are jealous?”

i’m not “proud” of it! it isn’t something that involves me!

I did say that sexual partners should be limited either entirely or even just to those who have been vaccinated and yes while there is a pandemic going on gay and bi men do have a moral responsibility to take it seriously… They are queueing up to get vaccinated (which many people elected not to do during covid) and don’t as far as i know spread dangerous conspiracy theories and misinformation about the vaccine either but i might be wrong!

"What I do find verging on the unbelievably selfish is you think a vaccine is the sole answer"

I didn't say that and gay men shouldn't change their sexual behaviour based on medical threat nor did I indicate that a vaccine was the only answer. Gay men adopted the use of condoms as protection from HIV/AIDS and underwent testing for the disease before entering into physical relationships because we understood the threat. Meanwhile straight men were still having unprotected sex with sex with sex workers, and bringing the disease home to their wives (unless they were intravenous drug users sharing needles).

But this is moot because someone carrying the monkeypox virus can have no symptoms within the first couple of weeks and even so - infect someone without having to have sex with them.
Please excuse my ignorance. Did monkey pox initiate from *** a monkey?

From the World Health Organisation:

https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/monkeypox

Animal-to-human (zoonotic) transmission can occur from direct contact with the blood, bodily fluids, or cutaneous or mucosal lesions of infected animals.

In Africa, evidence of monkeypox virus infection has been found in many animals including rope squirrels, tree squirrels, Gambian pouched rats, dormice, different species of monkeys and others. The natural reservoir of monkeypox has not yet been identified, though rodents are the most likely.

Eating inadequately cooked meat and other animal products of infected animals is a possible risk factor.

People living in or near forested areas may have indirect or low-level exposure to infected animals.
What was asterisked out???
sp1814. A term from the Oxford English Dictionary for anal sex.

Oh I see.
SP, //It doesn’t matter if the health risk is to the individual or a group…//

In my opinion it matters a great deal. When Covid reared its ugly head we all wore masks and kept our distance from other people … not to protect ourselves, we were told, but to protect them …. and we all did it. It seems to me that the last thing the people most at risk of this disease are willing to do is take responsibility and modify their lifestyle.

//there is no reason not to fund reasearch and treatment of the disease//

I can't see where that's been suggested.

//Yep - you see it too.//

Experience of conversations with you has taught me that comments like that are to be expected. Someone disagrees with you and in an effort to silence them you plaster them with every 'ism', 'ist' and 'phobia' you can think of. You should have learnt by now that it doesn't work.

When it comes to tools I'll have to bow to your expert knowledge.
Who are you talking to, douglas?

Re: Covid::

You wrote:

" and we all did it"

No

Not all of us wore masks.

Not all of us followed the rules.

There was a sizeable minority who did not, claiming it impinged on their freedoms. And/or believed Covid was a hoax and/or refused to get vaccinated because they believed that the vaccine wasn't tested properly or contained microchips (for some reason).

Not anyone, just you.

And douglas9401's comment was to me, not you.

I've just thought - you wrote:

Is that an achievement? I don't think so. Doubtless most of the rest of society could get just as much if they also chose to abandon their dignity and self respect.

That is a homophobic statement. You're saying that gay men choose to abandon dignity and self respect for some reason when that is patently untrue.

People like you then you can get away with coming out with cobblers like that and then when you're pulled up on it cry that you're being silenced. What did you mean by that?

What did you mean?

But the disease IS prevalent amongst gay men:

yeah I wondered why ( even for AB) we were discussing a disease which isnt in predominantly gay men, when it does predominate in ...
shsush SP - you're stalking her

"I've just thought - you wrote:"
