"ich, we know the party would go for Sunk so from a purely selfish point of view I am grateful the MPs don't decide. "

Yes, but this was a party member saying he didn't think it should be up to him. I don't think he had a preference either way. Like I say, I prefer Truss but think its the MPs who should decide.

Fair enough that's his view, I don't agree. The membership pays their subs and does all the unseen work. It's very condescending to then say they should not have a say. We know more about the candidates than many may think.

ich, Like any electorate, there will be some who don't vote, don't care who wins, don't know anything about the candidates and don't want to know. They are the sheep who need to be told what to think and do. That's their choice, the rest of us want our say.
Just been on the Liz Truss wikipedia page.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liz_Truss

It was very very dull.
Liz Truss is metamorphosing more into Maggie Thatcher every time she appears - clothes, hair and mannerisms - but she will never match her in terms of being able to galvanise the party into a credible government. She is dull, boring, and ineffective and I hope Rishi wipes the floor with her.
Question Author
Right oh Lanks, do you have a vote?
Liz Truss started off as a Liberal Democrat, then joined the Conservative Party. She also started off as a remainer, then supported Brexit. More u-turns than Captain Hindsight.

Is no one ever allowed to alter their view? TGM was once a Liberal you know?
//Liz Truss is metamorphosing more into Maggie Thatcher every time she appears //

She may aspire ... but that's about it.
Sadly no TTT and fortunately I am in the 'next door' constituency of George Freeman who I would like to have seen stand.
"Is no one ever allowed to alter their view?"

Yes, of course they are. But one gets a tad suspicious when they make a habit of it. It's almost as she does it to further her career, not because of what she actually believes in.
Many people start out with lefty liberal views when young and then adjust them when they learn from the Uni of Life.

In Liz's case she also had lefty parents that must have influenced her thinking until she had got out a bit and formed her own.

As for the Brexit thing, I think its time to stop alienating people simply for the way they voted years ago. Unless they are still chomping on the sour grapes of course.

I'm still not sure about her, but not because of her previous views.
It's the "Tory Parties" that will cost the Tory Party at the next G/E.......PMSL.
Perhaps sqad could explain why so many people on here including gulliver keep wetting themselves everytime they post
//Looks Like Liz Knocking It Out Of The Park..........//

…..but will be out for a big fat lame duck come the Test match of a General Election.

Labour must be rejoicing, the one candidate with less charisma than Keir (which is saying something). Why can't either party produce decent leaders any more?
NONE OF THE ABOVE!

Truss like Thatcher - if only. Bring back Boris.
I take it this is the same Liz Truss who advocated abolishing the monarchy when she was a LibDem?

Might be a bit ‘awks’ if she wins and Her Majesty invites her to form a government?
