It's hot so what? gawd there are counties in the world that are like this every day, they don't close schools and have national emergency. Same when it snows, why are we so carp at weather? I never had a day off school for weather, ever and I was at school in 1976.

//…and it is almost certainly due to climate change.// No it’s not. It’s due to something called “weather.” An area of low pressure is forming over the Azores in the Atlantic, to the south-west of the British Isles. Air flows anti-clockwise round low-pressure systems so the wind will flow around the low-pressure system from north Africa and the Iberian...

//Scary that folk are so dumb//

^The short answer.
We aren’t geared up for these temperatures so the concern is understandable as are the precautions.
What it irritates me is the endless wittering on radio etc
It could be worse. Imagine if it was snowing as well, having to shovel all that snow in this heat, would be hell.
What will the me deah do if a day arrives without an invented crisis to wave at us like a shroud? Issue a lack of crisis, crisis warning?
StGness - it’s two days of hot weather fer Christs sake. Perhaps climb down down from your moral superiority, adjust your halo, and get a grip - you’re being dramatic and pathetic.

Get Dave to agree with you (as boring per).
Sunny Dave - this is your opportunity to agree with StGness. Because that’s never happened before!
It will go something like this:

"It is expected that tomorrow will be the first time since records began, that no meteorological records will be broken. There are many people who will be particularly vulnerable to this unprecedented event. In particular are those who expect the government to issue blood-curdling warnings accompanied by Bleedin' Obvious advice daily. They should remain in bed, in a darkened room and make sure they have plenty of iced water and hot soup available to cover all eventualities. Normal service will be resumed tomorrow when it is expected to be the hottest/coldest/windiest/wettest/driest/foggiest day since records began. Make sure you keep tuned to find our which it will be and listen out for the usual inane warnings".
Remember when the weather forecasters used to enjoy this weather as much as we do? Same temperatures and conditions being predicted ... different "message" though.

Indeed NJ, but StGness and her ilk (and Sunny Dave - obvs) will clutch their pearls and will wring their hands until there’s no skin left, and rubbish anybody who has a grip on reality.
^^^^ ^^^^
Love it,thank you for putting all the WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE
brigade on the right track, our planet has had extremes of weather since
it was formed, the coal under our feet was formed millions of years ago from tropical forests,i wonder how hot it was then.
the red weather warning is good for me - i was scheduled to have an extremely boring 6 hour meeting in a south facing room in a 70 year old building with no A/c (and non-opening windows) on tuesday. Now, thanks to "government advice" i wont have to attend in person (seeing as the meting is with the government, they can't rescind their own advice
TOGO, 'Same temperatures and conditions being predicted ... different "message" though'

The highest temperature on the 1995 map is 30°C but the highest is 40°C on Tuesday's map.

Different temperatures, different message.
well actually, i suppose they could still rescind their own advice - this govt has form on that :)
Well if you want hysteria, TTT, look no further than Deskdiary. :-))
I wonder whereabouts in Yorkshire, TORATORATORA was born?

I expect Sunny Dave wilL agree with you (boringly obvs) StGness.

All hail to the most pious AB member, StGness.
You WILL get through this, deskdiary, once you realise that there's a difference of opinion on everything, people support their partners and, most importantly, it's just the internet and a man/woman gotta get some.

If I can move on, so can you.

As I said earlier, peace out.
"peace out. "

Actually "Peace Off" would do it ...
There we go, Sunny Dave coming to the rescue of StGness.

Laughable. And sad.

Now come on, Dave! You know I don't approve of coarse language however it's disguised. If you post like that we will have a disagreement on AB and poor old Deskdiary couldn't cope with that.
