As for the “chaos”

//Yes, a fine article, she pulls no punches either way. She admits his faults and points out where he went wrong, but still feels 'devastated' by his resignation, as I do.//

Lol, utterly pathetic.
I wonder if the mindset would have been different if Pincher was predatory with women instead of men?
A sex pest is still a sex pest, regardless of gender.
Sorry naomi I will post it again:

She was wrong and I (apparently??) was wrong to suggest that Boris Johnson said he didn't know Chris Pincher was a sexual predator and promoted him anyway when the facts are indeed that Boris Johnson knew that Chris Pincher was a sexual predator and promoted him anyway and then said he didn't know of any specific allegations and then said he'd forgotten about them by the time that he promoted said sexual predator, having already known that he was a sexual predator.

good to be precise.

Hopefully you've got that off your chest, untitled. Back to the subject ....
I had to smile when I heard Johnson’s biographer on the radio claiming that BJ had all the things needed to have been a great PM were it not for ….
But the “were it not for” is rather important. He got the gig because the Tories were in crisis over Brexit and he did what was needed by winning an election : that was the “get Brexit done” bit. With an 80 seat majority he could and should have dominated the political scene for years but he squandered it.
The claims he was stabbed in the back are ludicrous : most of his ministers and MPs stuck with him for far longer than they should : looking snd sounding increasingly ridiculous as they did so until finally they had had enough
Unsympathetic as I am to Johnson's MPs and ministers i think it is far more accurate to say that he betrayed them.

As per the OP ....Will Boris's forced Departure heal divisions in the Conservative government?
ich: 2With an 80 seat majority he could and should have dominated the political scene for years but he squandered it. " - it's almost as if there has been a pandemic or something.
I don't think so no... because his departure was not intended to heal divisions.
Naomi 10:32 not sure but it will certainly have more chance than with Boris at the helm. Even you, with your obsession, can see that?
I don't think they will; the main splitter is Brexit and there are still those who want to reverse it. I voted to remain but, as a believer in democracy, think we should go with the majority and make the best of it. Re-joining would put us in a worse position than we are now and even trying to rejoin will cause mayhem.

Should’ve dealt with it then in a manner reflecting the gravity of the situation, not lied and pished it up all the way through.
Did any other government in the western world resort to such behaviour?

Lol, of course not! In her eyes he has done nothing wrong and ought to still be in power.
They’re called Borstriches for good reason.
I am sure you wont be surprised to learn I disagree with you Naomi.

Its a shame Johnson went the way he did but if you turn into a green liberal wrecking the economy after being elected because your new bit on the side is then dont be surprised when people dislike you.

I think the Party will grow in strength because of it, especially since it seems Sir Kier and Raynor are here to stay. Remember, its not the Party members you have to please it is Middle England. They decide on the Government and they were not happy with Johnson, his taxes and green polices.
Fighting one virus is enough, but the vaccine for the one in number 10 is working well.

YMB, no, I'm not surprised you disagree with me. If you're right about Middle England - and I don't think you are - all I can say is they should be careful what they wish for.
ymb IS right about Middle England, naomi, even if I don't necessarily agree with the rest of it.

Or have you forgotten Corbyn?
Much has been made of the "Red wall" but actually Johnson was really toxic in the traditional Tory areas.

Question Author
Ich, Boris is not toxic in any traditional Tory area I know - and I live in one.

Why are you asking me about Corbyn?
naomi24
// Ich, Boris is not toxic in any traditional Tory area I know//

Lol, except that even now he lives(sorry, squats) in a Labour-run ward after the recent council elections.
Also, try researching how toxic he is in Westminster, that’s been a Tory area for 12 years.
To paraphrase a recent question by a bank-bench Conservative MP, are there any circumstances in which you would not support Boris Johnson?
P/T @ 11.10. Love it
