where are they staying and getting their food etc from if all the locals are finding it hard to go out to get food? There seems to be far more of them in this conflict whereas it always used to be just Orla Guerin wherever there was a war zone.

Exactly. And how much equipment and how many engineers are also there, that Clive Myrie (excellent) can present the main news bulletin live from Kyiv? Pretty sure he doesn't have an Autocue, but he's so good he doesn't need one.
They will be sleeping at city hotels. The service they’re getting is anyone’s guess … but quite honestly I don’t think they’ll be expecting more than they’re getting. Don’t forget our journalists are not unique. There are journalists from all over the world there.
I've been wondering how they get out when the Russians arrive, journalists are not exactly popular with Russia.
“ whereas it always used to be just Orla Guerin wherever there was a war zone”

??
City hotels as Naomi says.
You probably missed the bit last week where Clive Myrie was asked about life there for the reporters and what it would be like to leave.
Journalists are supposed to get special passes in war zones which allow them free movement. Tho that didn’t help the Sky crew who miraculously escaped death the other day in that dramatic film of them being fired on repeatedly in their car.
There’ll be more reporters now in Ukraine presumably as most Western agencies have evacuated their staff from Russia. Sarah Rainsford for example is now there.
Journalists are financed by News Organisations.
The will be able to buy food and accommodation.
Don’t know if your perception that there are more journalists in Ukraine, compared to other wars, is correct or not. The fact that it is in central Europe and on our doorstep may be why we are taking more intrest there than say Yemen.
// be just Orla Guerin wherever there was a war zone.//
Never heard of Kate Adie?
^ and Martin Bell - the man in the white suit

Gromit, //The fact that it is in central Europe and on our doorstep may be why we are taking more intrest there than say Yemen//

We're not taking less interest in Yemen by choice.

When was the last time Reporters Without Borders achieved 'media saturation' then ?
?
? exactly.
I’m fed up with that
Just ignore
Clive Myrie has tweeted that after a 17 hour drive from Kyiv they’re queuing to enter Moldova
//many kilometers of queues on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border//

From 25 February.

You're probably right about ignoring. Bizarre!
My friend will be bringing fifty back here (1,000 km.) I think today in his coach, it seems such a small amount of souls when you see the numbers, still!

Another friend who does 'what's app' (I can't) will contact him to see how it goes. They will be women, babies & children (pets?) I guess. The logistics, food, water toilets etc will be daunting.

Did anyone see the very old lady bundled in a blanket being transported in a wheelbarrow? I wept when I saw her.

If I hear anything of Wolfgang's progress, I'll keep you posted.
Will locals take them in, Khandro? Is accommodation arranged for them?
The worst picture I have seen is the family of four lying shot dead in Irpin, which is a stones throw from where we went fishing, camping and water carrying in Pushcha Voditsa.
Mum, dad and two kids, shot in cold blood as they tried to run away, and now lying at peace.
n. I only saw him briefly on Friday evening before he was leaving the next morning, I don't know all the arrangements, I think they will be taken in by the locals, he said he might take three himself, I said to contact me if I can help, we have a rather large house & there's only the two of us, so ???

ichi: There seems to be some confusion about that 'Z' sign;

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2022/03/07/russias-terminally-children-line-letter-z-stunt-show-kremlin/
//Unexpectedly, perhaps, the letter 'Z' has become a staunchly pro-war and pro-Vladimir Putin symbol in Russia.//

There doesn't appear to be any confusion in that report.
n. I'm mixing up the threads: ichi said on the Oxford Union thread;

"Most people in Russia don’t know about or refuse to believe what is happening in Ukraine.
So what people may “support” isn’t actually happening the way they think it is.
It was sobering nonetheless to see a Russian gymnast with a “z” on his vest at an event in Doha....."

I was wondering if that meant support for Ukraine or for Putin, but on reflection I think he meant the latter.
It definitely meant the latter, khandro.
