I'm sure there are two Liz Trusses, the fruity one that strides smiling along Downing Street and the satanic Thatcher one with the dead-eyed stare.

In any case, if she's on a plane of any description chances are she getting further away from me.

Thumbs up.
Apparently it was so she could get straight back in case the situation in Ukraine worsened.
Just what immediate response could the 'Cheese Lady' have made that would have made Putin stop and think about his actions?

Half a million pounds. Ridiculous!
Ken - That figure is unsubstantiated.

Not really
It explains the rationale
It does not justify it nor the cost involved

‘The Foreign Office said the use of the plane was within the rules set by the ministerial code.’
Is this the aircraft dubbed Blair Force One that the little creep had commisioned? He got it through by trailing the idea that there could be 2 of them. One for his use and the other for Her Majesty. The Labour Government of course cancelled the second one once they had theirs. Bliar maintained that the flying costs of £2,000 per hour were justified on the grounds of security and bragging rights, and were cheaper than going commercial with the hoi polloi. Now of course they, and the beep, insist that it now costs £squillions a second to run and skins babies and unicorns on the way. Meehh.
This is the same Liz Truss that said that NHS workers were accountable for every penny they spent.

She's right, and she's also accountable for the 50 million pennies she spent on that plane alone. Did she give as good value as the 15 nurses working for one year that this plane ride cost?

Me too and I'm not Foreign Secretary.
she didn't travel alone though did she ?
our ministers should not be mixing with the great unwashed, wise move Liz.
Blair force one was one of the few things I agreed with Blair on. UK is a major world power, our reps should not be ferried about the world on Easy Jet for gawd sake. Even Mugabe had his own Jumbo!
TOGO, do you have the details of the new plane bought or by the Blair government?

I seen there were proposals for a new plane but nothing to indicate one was purchased.

Justify it to whom?

It justifies it to the powers-that-be.

It doesn't have to justify it to you or I - if the government spent its time justifying its spending on things, they would be doing that and nothing else.
This government are in la la land.
“ she didn’t fly alone”. I would hope not.
Unless she is multi skilled and can fly a plane.
Scrounges the lot of them .
Anne, can you tell me which country doesn't have access to private planes for use by government ministers?
AH
Justify it to whom?

The British taxpayer ?
