Snow in the offing between Christmas and New year. Already getting excited. Funny the things that bring us joy.

I get no joy at all out of snow! All very well if you've got a one-horse open sleigh, I suppose.
If we have enough of it then it will assist the government in enforcing the inevitable lockdown

I just find it so magical, it's like it heals the scars on the land, and wraps it up in a blanket as if to say time to rest for a while.
Yes but only if you live on a mountain top in Scotland.
jno Lol. I like the snow if I don't have to go out in it, but I've only seen it forecast for Scotland.

Well I live in a bit of Birmingham that gets cut off from public transport at the first hint of frozen roads. I do have lovely parks nearby and of course I get amazing views from 7th floor.

Midlands heavy snow forecast Boxing Day to 27th and at intervals after that. I hope I get a break to get mum home in January.
For the first time in many years we have rain forecast all week. Today sunshine wind and showers with thunderstorms later. The seagulls are circling ominously
I hate to be a killjoy, Rowanwitch, but I'm wondering where you're getting your weather forecasts from. I can't see any real snow forecast for Birmingham!

The Met Office's forecast for the city only goes up to the 27th but there's not a snowflake in sight:

Their long-range forecast for the whole country, covering 25 December to 3 January, doesn't look particularly promising for you either:
"This period remains somewhat uncertain in detail, but generally sees a split between colder air to the north and milder air to the south. Along the boundary, rain, with a risk of snow, predominantly across higher ground. To the south of this, mild, unsettled weather, with rain and occasional strong winds. To the north more settled conditions; brighter spells, with some wintry showers, mainly in the north and northeast, and feeling very cold in brisk northeasterly winds. Towards the end of the period potentially an interlude of more widely settled conditions, bringing colder, frosty weather. Maybe a risk of rain and snow with stronger winds arriving from the southwest later. Becoming colder than average heading into January with any unsettled, milder spells most likely for the west and south."

Aunty Beeb gets her forecasts from MeteoGroup, which go up to 3 January. Once again, there's no sign of the white stuff:

The Weather Channel is the only forecaster I can find suggesting the possibility of snow but, as that's always alongside rain on the same day, you're probably more likely to be enduring sleet than building snowmen :(

My advice is to close the curtains, turn the heating up, put your feet up and ignore the weather, whatever it is!

Metcheck, I have used them as my main forecaster for ages. I will keep checking as it gets closer.
I really hope so Rowan, I’d love a white Christmas
I've seen Christmas forecasts for snow over the whole of UK too. Except, can't remember where from- 79% chance in Bucks. I love it... I just hope it doesn't interfere with work too much.
Barsel, we once went for a Canadian holiday over Easter. We drove into the Rockies thinking winter was over, but it wasn't. We stayed in a hotel in Banff and found it had a hot tub on the roof, so we hopped into it with snow falling on us. That's the only really nice experience I've had in snow. (I don't do skiing or anything.)
The two forecast apps I use have a forecast of 8 degrees on Xmas day and I am not a million miles away from Brum
we're getting showers and 11 degrees and we're between Brum and the Gambia.
Oh dear! We have a tendency to get cut-off in snowy weather. Never mind, I keep extra stocks in Winter - even if it means eating up the emergency Fray Bentos and Baked Beans!
I have three different forecasts on the laptop...and they never agree - but not a snowflake in sight on all three. Thank goodness.
oh, R
do you take your clothes off and dance around in the snow
I keep on thinking you are Wiccan

bluddy cold for all that as afar as I can see
