I didn't know that the mother had murdered her lover - I just read a tribute from her own mother and that she was in jail for an "unrelated" offence - I thought that meant drugs or such.

What chance had Arthur when both his parents from the start were murderers.

both should swing, i can't say i agree always with the death penalty, but this crime is one of the worse i have ever read.

I really don't know what to say or even if I should post anything at all.
I have no particularly strong sense of outrage as I have seen it all before.
Could I do it?....No.
Does it surprise me?...No.
Am I shocked?......No.

We seem to be in an era whereby we "talk the talk" but don't "walk the walk".

Surely when concerns for a child's welfare are expressed the first thing a social worker should do is to get a medical report to identify any historical signs of abuse?

The bloomin RSPCA would have done more for a dog than was done for this child.

I find stuff like this very difficult to read, I think the one real mistake Social Services make is to consider that children should, if at all possible, be left in the 'care' of their families…. so often a fatal error - literally.

They get a lot of training, danny, but unfortunately many of them go 'by the book'. Common sense so very often doesn't come into it.

i once asked social service if it were possible to install a shower only as i couldn't clamber over the bath, the woman's response was "only if i was in a wheelchair". Calmly forgetting the four flights of stairs i live up, stupid woman and stupid comment.

i wish they would not use the social services manual every time a child is at risk, as you say Naomi common sense seems to go by the by.
