She's surprisingly active for 95 - now is the time for her to take it a lot easier, bless her.

Naomi. It would appear her ‘ name’ is cabbage !!
No ... it isn't.
Of course we have respect for her, Naomi. Noone has been disrespectful. Nicknames by family are fine. Noone on here has referred to her as Cabbage, i wasjust amused by what her husband called her. She is human, and am sure her nickname from Philip amused her.
I'm not sure the Earl of Forfar adds much to the life of the nation, Mozz. Nor, to be honest, the Earl of Merioneth
I have lived all my life under the reign of Queen Elizabeth and can't quite imagine what it will be like living in the reign of another monarch.
Her nickname by her husband was "cabbage".
Whilst her name might be Elizabeth, if I met her I would call her "Your Majesty" followed by "ma'am".

I don't think that there is any disrespect intended. Most of this is nothing more than terms of endearment.
In terms of endearment - my 80 years old aunt and uncle - called each each other "Boy" if she wanted him and if he wanted her he called her "Girl".
I still think the old girl is on her way out....

Princess Marie Louise - memoir of five reigns -
recalls that Mary ( May ) always rang her deah husband George V and would open with " hello you old fool " - one time she was greeted with ;His majesty is not yet on the line ...'

She also mused ( poor she was in royal terms ) in public whether May and George travelled by underground, and a cockney ( rude fellow - listening to her conversation ) interrupted
"KING george and Queen Mary to YOU!"

I am not sure ( but hey this is AB so so what if I am wrong) that the beginning of The Madness of King George is correct

where charlotte says - good night mr king
and he says - good night mrs queen
well, she's not on her way in; but her mother passed 100 and I wouldn't be surprised if she does too. She won't abdicate, she believes she took the job for life. But this means her heir has been hanging around like a mini-me for more than 70 years, rather a wasted life; and in due course William will do the same.
jno, Elizabeth / Charles seems to be a similar situation to Victoria / Edward to me.
very much so, tonyav. Of course Edward spent his life pursuing wine. women and song; Charles has spent his making organic biscuits.
Of course Edward spent his life pursuing wine. women and song;

And wasted the rest of his time ;-)
anyone who looks more awful than me - I think is dying - and I am not often wrong ....

and yup I agree 95 is NOT young
"I have lived all my life under the reign of Queen Elizabeth and can't quite imagine what it will be like living in the reign of another monarch."

It will change your life not one iota.
lol, tonyav, he said to Lillie Langtry "I've spent enough on you to build a battleship" and she said "Yes, and you've spent enough in me to float it."
LOL ^^^^^
yes - no edward..... secured the French alliance which was crucial to the great war

v popular in France - where he summered.

and so it came to pass - that it was the only time a prime minister was appointed in France - well, out of the country. ? 1910 Bonar Law - Edward cdnt be arrsissed to come back to Lonon and appoint him so the PM had to go down to biarritz...
Should she join her husband tomorrow, in truth whose life on AB will change ?
I'll be getting confused over the new face on the banknotes, anne. I'm having enough trouble with the current issue
