Not worrying about saving Christmas...more about saving myself and others.
I wear one if I am in a busy area like a shopping centrre or large stores and on public transport anyway
Yes/Yes/Yes - for exactly the same reasons as gingejbee
I'm going to live as normally as possible whilst abiding by the law.
It was noticeable at the recent Liverpool match in Madrid how many Spanish people wear masks even outdoors compared with here. Some schools are introducing masks again but as weve seen on public transport the majority here dont wear them no more even if told to. Its hard to see these whose got use to not wearing them wearing them again.
I'll waer masks still in shops/crowded spaces but not many do here now but I will rely more on LFTs before gatherings especially if older people (and am no spring chicken myself). I'll open windows too but wont wear masks in peoples houses at family gatherings
Just come home from Lanzarote where masks are required indoors and public transport. They are very hot on it with business employees keeping an eye out for non compliance. Most people complied, usually it was an oversight, and I noticed that people wore them around their arm so they didn’t forget.
agreed carol. Here loads of people use to say 'i'm exempt' but when I was abroad last month there was strict enforcement, if you forgot a marshall or shopworker or waiter or tour guide looked at you or pointed and people put theres back on, no arguments, no claims of exemption.
Christmas is December, not necessarily the best time for meeting outdoors in the UK. Boosters aren't for everybody. And, masks aren't proper masks.
Otherwise, great idea :-)
No better ideas then pixie? Just let things get worse?
//And, masks aren't proper masks.//
So why are scientists and doctors and public health saying we should wear them
Mine are social distancing- which does work. Since the beginning of this, my sister and I have interacted with nobody except clients and close family. Plus all have had the vaccines.
No partying or socialising or seeing friends. With or without a mask. Just common sense really, you won't get it, if you don't come into contact with it.
Bobbin.... why are care homes and hospitals not accepting them as "adequate" more to the point... and using PPE instead?
Even the government originally admitted a face covering was to make people feel "more confident", in an attempt to help the economy.
//why are care homes and hospitals not accepting them as "adequate"//
There better than no mask, virtually no scientist/doctor now says there no good, but obvs its better to have a clean one or a nedical grade one and thats why critical places like hospitals provide one rathe rthan risk an infected one, but that dont mean other masks are a waste of time in shops, buses etc and should be replaced by full grade medical ones.
Yes theyd be better but are more expensive and need to be save for priority use like carehomes and hospitals
Good to hear Savid javid accepting yesterday that some Tories have got it wrong by not wearing masks in House of Commons and at a funeral instead of setting an example. Well done Labour for sticking to masks
Get a booster- yes I will when due in December, hopefully sooner.
Wear mask- still do in shops even when working in one, on transport, in crowded places like station or in a lift, but not outdoors except when between shops and not in family houses.
Meet outdoors- yes where possible, have preferred it, unless its raining but obvs some things have to be done indoors in winter but can still avoid crowded rooms and can still open windows even in winter. For restraunts I always look for open windows and space beetween tables now
A mask is forever , not just for Christmas ;0)
//There better than no mask,//. That isn't the option though. They are rejected by professionals, because the don't work. The alternative is PPE. Not "no mask".
The problem is only that it makes people "feel" safer. But honestly, if you wouldn't be confident in a situation without one- don't change your behaviour "with" one.
........Don't ask ........Wear a mask...... (You Know It Makes Sense)

......Just Do It.... end of
Wow. We agree Gulliver!
You two are dangerous....!
