Sorry for putting this in news but I think this needs to put out there, would Tesco rename other religious festivals from other minorities, instead of happy Ramadan, how about happy starving.

Tesco is in the business of making money and will cast its net as widely as possibly. Doubtless they will still have their decorated Christmas trees adorning the entrances to their stores, along with all the baubles dangling above the aisles and checkouts and the tempting Christmas offers. That said, let us never concede to complacency. Our culture and...

They seem to have forgotten this is a Christian country, and no they won't be renaming other religions' festivals, it might cause offence.
are you so insecure that this bothers you?
I take it you don't run a retail business.
"christian country"? literally only by the skin of our teeth. We are nearly a secular country
you never say happy ramadan

the big blow out at the end is eid al-fitr and I cant recollect anyone saying eid al fitr mubarak ( mubarak - blessed)
BUT

Other greetings you can use (in English or Arabic) include: Eid Mubarak lakum wa-li-'a'ilatakum – Blessed Eid to you and your family. Litanzil 'alaykum barakat Allah fi Eid al-Fitr hatha – May God's blessings be showered on you on this Eid al-Fitr. ... Eid Mubarak – May you celebrate this every year.

I note they are using lakum - 2nd plur, and one is leik - there is no vous-tu divide in arabic

I am not bothered about what they call it - but it isn't much of a sale. 46 items!
Harr Harr have a good starve. Lock your sheep up.
// We are nearly a secular country

and so we should be - France is a Roman Catholic gondree and has much stricter church state separation - laicite

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secularism_in_France
one of the subject where the wiki treatment in a different language is rad difft, and not a translation.

a/c to the French, laicite is a way of life, idea, concept and not a translation of church state separation

No, but I've worked in plenty and was involved in the buying side of a large garden centre, so I do know stuff, do you. ?

Yes it does its called Christmas. I take it you don't celebrate it then.
Yes, I have retail experience and the main point is selling your wares to as many as possible - not using a word in an advert indicates nothing.
Put 'Christmas' in the Tesco Search box, I promise you it won't come up blank.
//the main point is selling your wares to as many as possible//

Phew that's a relief. I was beginning to think that advertisements were only for black or brown people. Can I still get life insurance and an eye test then?
crumbs webbo i never had you down as an insecure snowflake!

And the biggest market in this country is.....?
I'm not playing your silly games, try posting a thread in R&S about your Christian beliefs and see what some of the replies are like (ps that's why I don't start threads in there), yet Tesco mention 'Gifting Season' and there's an outcry?
And the biggest market in this country is.....?
