Did anyone do the alcohol fuelled Ibiza holiday thing with their mates when younger? Or anywhere else for that matter. I went there once in my early 20s and that was enough. Wasn't my type of holiday but my friends wanted to go and I didn't want to miss out.

loved it as teenager fifty odd years ago, wouldn't want to go back

I went in my 20's with Mum, as Dad wouldn't fly in those days. It was anything but booze filled obviously, but we had a lovely time. I've never been a fan of booze filled holidays.
Been to the other Balearics but not Ibiza and never on a booze filled holiday , I couldn’t think of anything worse tbh
No because it was hardly even heard of when I was young, that sort of holiday didn't really become the thing until at least the 90s did it? I know younger people who have though. For me I don't see the point, why go to an island with beautiful beaches and fabulous sun if you're going to sleep all day and stay up all night?

i must have been a early starter . . .
No never. I couldn’t afford a holiday. Also too busy earning a crust. But I did travel. Merchant Navy.
Yes I did. I can remember the planes flying in low whilst we were on the beach!
I remember finding a lovely little out of the way cafe and sitting in the shade eating strawberries and cream. Wish I could do it all over again with my beloved Mum. Happy times.
As I said above I’ve only been to two of the islands and if I had to choose it would be Menorca every time ,no high rise hotels and gorgeous coves
When I was young I think Ibiza was only really known as a hippy destination, lots of beads and laid back stoned people :-) I have been there twice, it's only really in San Antonio that the madness happens, the rest of the island is just a normal Med holiday destination.
Mediterranean holidays were just for the rich when I was in my late teens, no package holidays for the peasants.
We had something equally as good......BUTLINS.
Great holidays, particularly my favourite...SKEGNESS...mill girls from the North, thick as two short planks just gagging for it ,us lads shooting a line.
My favourite piece was that i was an RAF fast jet fighter pilot....they loved my stories lol.
Drunk most nights , slept most of the day.
To be honest, it is my belief that we were not as promiscuous as present day teenagers.

Well that's that.

I prefer visiting places of interest and exploring. My friends were only interested in sunning themselves on the beach or by the pool for hours and hours. I spent most of my time chasing the shade under the parasol, listening to my walkman and reading a book.
My niece went to an all night party and flew back the next day.
and said she probably wouldnt do it again

I bet you had bad sunburn as a child

I dont sunbathe - when I presented my rodent ulcer (chest) to a dermatologist she said - oh - this is the result of one bad episode of sun burn which you probably remember.

yes Burton Bradstock 1965
i went on a 18-30 holiday when younger, it was an experience i won't ever forget. First week in Tangier second week in Spain, tourist spot called Benalmedena or some such name, very funny in many ways, though the holiday didn't start well as i got left behind from my flight, and ended up going it alone to start with. Its a long story and one that i won;t bore you with, suffice to say that Tangier was fascinating and very very hot.
Even in my wilder days in the RN we didn't have things like they have these days. We used to go out and have quite a few beers and crawl back to the ship. Wild nights back then were the Gut or Straight Street as it is also known in Malta or the rough part of Rio in Brazil. My favorite during that time was laying on the beach on St Thomas getting waiter service. Brings back memories.
I 'celebrated' my 18th birthday in Benidorm. Group of six teenage girls let loose - it was heaven! Got drunk on sangria at the mediaeval banquet and most nights in the bars and pubs but we still managed to keep safe and preserve a bit of dignity unlike some of those who we see on the tv these days. Didn't do me any long term harm and left me with some wonderful memories. I think the best was the moment you first step off the plane and the heat just washes over you after holidaying in the UK all my life.
