Ed Miliband
second term as labour leader ?
No his brother David. Ed did himself no favours. He was another long line of ineffectual leaders.
It's a poisoned chalice, I think if SKS were to be replaced it would be by a woman. But who would want to lead a divided party whose support is rapidly draining away?
isn't there decent leader material amongst the women of the party....
I think Yvette Cooper quite fancies the job. Ghastly woman!

Congratulations to the eminently sensible people of Hartlepool. Well done them!
it is well done Naomi, sensible and timely.
isn't there a Jo ? in the Labour party, can't recall her surname at the moment who seems to have more about her than most.
Ed Balls other half, eew no.
magnificent result, clearly Labour are not trusted. Probably wont see gulliver for a few weeks.
Dis the Tory's win it or did Labour loose it?

I strongly suspect it was labour that lost it. True folk have had enough of woke North London centric politics and are now voting with their feet. It will become increasingly difficult for labour to reverse their fortune now that there are many labour voters who have broken the 'I vote labour because that whats my family have always done' dogma.

I wonder if this will finally make Labour sit back and have a long, hard think ??
//magnificent result//

Well it's always nice to see labour getting a trouncing, but long term is it really good for the country?

I have always maintained(on here too) that a good Government is made by a firm and viable opposition. We are now effectively in a one party State and that cannot be good for anyone long term. And I dont see how that will change, certainly not in the short term given the hard left are now trying to oust SKS.

//I wonder if this will finally make Labour sit back and have a long, hard think //

No it wont. Already the hard Left are rearing their ugly heads.
Anyone seen Sunk or Gulliver. ?
it didn't help that the person they fielded to contest the seat was an remainer....in a place which was staunchly Brexit.
I SKS is ousted how long will it be before Blair throws his hat into the ring?
That was crazy want it emmie, they really are on another planet.
// Already the hard Left are rearing their ugly heads. //

the return of Labour's "magic grandad", maybe?
Obviously a bad day for those of us who aren't on board with the worship of Johnson... alas as youngmafbog says England is effectively a one-party state and will be for a very long time.

... and yes I do think he has a had a hard job - a job that he played every dirty trick to get. He was absolutely desperate to be PM, and part of being PM means dealing with crisis.
Corbyn has been and gone, that side of Labour should be no more than a memory.
