bazile: "Can't we just pay our respects ,without all the criticisms ?" - like we did with TGL? Sorry, the nasty left set the precedent.
Blair was still a Labour man TTT, and won three elections for them
"Blair was still a Labour man TTT, and won three elections for them"

Don't start him off again on that one lol
No he was not a Labour man, he hijacked the party and turned them into Tory lite.
Tora and Jeremy Corbyn have much in common:
Their view of Labour is stuck firmly in the last :-)
sorry i wouldn't have voted for Blair at any point - at any time, he was a liar and a charlatan.
Blair and co deduced, correctly, that real Labour cannot win an election, not after what they did to the country in the 60s and 70s. So he moved them to a place in the political spectrum where they could win. Agent Cob and co moved them back again, hence they got hammered in 2019. Simples.
they got hammered because they firstly had Corbyn in charge, so i agree with you. But many died in the wool Labourites changed sides because of Brexit. To take back our country, sovereignty.
As an aside, I don't think they voted for Boris Johnson to take back sovereignty.
In these so called "red wall" seats (and elsewhere, but with less impact politically) people voted for Brexit for different reasons, but the point is they voted for it and unexpectedly that side won. Many may not ever have voted before for anything much less been on the winning side. And then it looked as if this small victory was going to be taken away from them: it reminds me a bit of the League of Gentlemen, and Geoff, Mike and Brian, the three mates, one of whom has had a pretty rotten time of it: he's especially jealous of Brian, who seems to have a perfect like, but Brian's mum dies before Geoff's does: "I won the mums" he says bitterly.
These people "won the mums" when it came to the refefendum, and irrespective of anything to do with soverignty (which quite honestly is cruel nonsense) they were damn sure it wasn't going to be taken from them.
And nor, in fairness, should it if possible.
ich: "......and irrespective of anything to do with soverignty (which quite honestly is cruel nonsense)" - cobras, for most it was everything to do with sovereignty.
"they were damn sure it wasn't going to be taken from them." - you are correct there. Shame the massed hordes of the VBQC were so determined to thwart democracy, the democratic will of the majority.
“ and irrespective of anything to do with soverignty (which quite honestly is cruel nonsense)”

I meant of course the reason people voted for Johnson in unlikely places in 2019. Of course “sovereignty” (a confusing and confused term) was one reason people voted Leave in the first place.

On “sovereignty” try telling people for example in NI who can’t buy English pot plants now that they are freer than in the bad old days ;-)
It’s the little things that matter ...
it will come right in the end - its just will take some time
Shirley Williams served in the Education Department and was instrumental in its policies from 1967, during this period Anthony Crosland, as secretary of state, had been evangelical in his determination to destroy the selective system of education. In her biography published in 1982, Crosland's widow Susan said he had told her: “If it’s the last thing I do, I’m going to destroy every f------ grammar school in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.”
They didn't quite make it, but caused tremendous destruction based on nothing more than a warped ideology.

Yet not so long before, Harold Wilson had said, "Grammar schools will be abolished over my dead body".
// but caused tremendous destruction based on nothing more than a warped ideology.//

and did NOT increase the proportion of state school pupils going to oxbridge - - it went down

one of Jonathan Millers sons - who went to Pimlico comp - said " we were educated according to our parents' political principles and not our needs."
oo-er Mrs, he clearly didnt like the new system
