I fly a fair bit - correction - I did fly a fair bit before the world went mad, usually at least half a dozen times a year, and I cannot remember the last time my passport wasn't scanned at each end, whether it be by somebody in a booth or self-service, so I think TTT is right.

2015: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32205970
"For the first month all passports will be scanned but only 25% of the passport holders will have their details verified to ensure they are genuine, in a bid to minimise disruption.

After a month, there will be a move to 50% verification and by the middle of June 100% verification will be introduced."
That's the Home Office dear.
You were banging on about having to use a passport to get a boarding pass but you don't need to, according to the link you posted earlier.

what part of "Passport exit checks begin at UK ports and borders" is confusing you dear!
I`m not even going to comment anymore because this is a bit of a car crash :)

237sj, you have been banging on that passports are not checked when a passenger leaves the country my last link demonstrated that since 2015 they have been. End of.
Well that seems a bit stupid, but I suppose with technology it's made it easier to bring in a scheme like that.
What about when I jump in my boat in Wales to do a spot of sea fishing, will I need a passport in case I change my mind and decide to go to France? That's the reason I always thought there was no need for a passport to leave.
Curzon cinemas are considering segregated screenings

good bit of thinking outside the box.
Love it jno, they could make the non vaccine seats open air, a bit like smoking areas in pubs.
they'd just have to deep-clean after no-jab screenings, as they do with buses these days. I suppose audiences might have to pay more for this.

There are outdoor screenings in London

As long as everyone that wants the vaccination has had the opportunity to take it , I don't have an issue with the others spreading the virus around amongst themselves.
which would be fine if a) the virus protected 100% and b) it could be guaranteed that those who caught the virus would not generate new variants.
Like Tomus, I can't see why it matters once all vulnerable people have been inoculated. We're going to have to live with it and be vaccinated every year to keep up with variations. If the death rate is something equivalent to 'flu - then I don't see a problem, we live comfortably with that. No-one asks for proof of a flu vaccination. I do see a huge problem with discriminating against people in their own country (different if other countries ask for proof of vaccine to travel there).

I have no axe to grind, I've been vaccinated. I would object strongly to having to prove this - as I would with being asked to prove I'd had the 'flu jab before I could go anywhere. It is an infringement of citizenship, human rights - call it what you will. No - not fair enough T.T.T..
jourdain this is not flu and kills many more people than ordinary flu does. Yes eventually there will be some kind of accommodation but not yet. Where there are pools of unvaccinated people who can host variants, that potentially puts all fo us at risk. I honestly don't know the answer to insisting that certain people have the vaccine or insist on proof of vaccination to use certain facilities. What I do know is that if my late mum was still with us and needed care or a care home, then I'd be off the fence pretty damn quick.
Businesses can choose who to serve based on whether they've been vaccinated or not. An example that comes to mind is a B&B: if a couple of unvaccinated black homosexuals want to stay over, they'll be able to be turned away on the basis that they haven't been vaccinated. Likewise, a cake shop can refuse to bake for an unvaccinated couple wanting a gay wedding celebration cake.

The question is whether the government adds vaccination to the list of protected statuses, like gender, race, religion, sexuality and disability. If they don't, businesses can choose to do what they want.
I don't know if I can have the second one yet. Doctor, covid service and vaccinator are all asking each other, and nobody knows. If I shouldn't have it, should I give up work and ever leaving the country?
pixie, what is the problem?
Allergy, woof. No flu symptoms, but itching skin. None are prepared to say I should have the second one- and all suggest asking "someone else".
in that case I think you would count as medically exempt.
They really don't know. In any case, the virus won't know between medically exempt or an anti-vaxxer. The risk is the same.

I think realistically, it will have to be each to their own risk, in the end. A passport won't help, if it can't differentiate between "can't" and "don't want to".
