There should be no excuse for people not getting jabs, unless for medical reasons. I think Employers have every right to insist that employees have had their inoculations, if not, no job.

maybe so, but if they get sick from covid, doctors can't refuse to treat them...
my friend in Australia hasn't seen her daughter for over a year, admittedly she lives other side of Oz to her mum. But they still can't meet up. Lock down has been quite severe there.. or so it seems

"maybe so, but if they get sick from covid, doctors can't refuse to treat them..." - yes but they can be refused jobs, they can be barred from public transport, shops, pubs, cinemas etc, they'll become modern day lepers.
people won't be barred from transport, who has the time to ask people if they have been vaccinated, surely that is a step too far.
then some will resort to fake covid vaccination certificates
Question Author
emmie: "people won't be barred from transport, who has the time to ask people if they have been vaccinated, surely that is a step too far. " - very easily, they already have the tech to scan oyster cards etc. At some point there will have to be some sort of vaccination proof issued and yes you are correct they'll be forged and prosecuted as discovered as they are now.
Question Author
It wont take long I expect ID cards to resurge with QR codes linked to Vaccination records via NI number for this and all future outbreaks. It will become the norm in all manner of places. Life will become very difficult for the non vaccinated.
you can't make people into pariahs, because there will be some who can't have the vaccination for reasons known to them and their doctors.
Question Author
yes emmie there will be fakes but as with fake everything now it will be made more and more difficult and they will be prosecuted as they arise.
Question Author
emmie: "you can't make people into pariahs, because there will be some who can't have the vaccination for reasons known to them and their doctors. " - medical reasons will be exempt and shown on the scanned records. Any Pariahs will be self made.
Question Author
personally I was against ID cards but I think now they are inevitable.
// you can't make people into pariahs, because there will be some who can't have the vaccination for reasons known to them and their doctors. //

in my industry, everyone has to have an ID card, without which access is denied. the card carries a QR code and from this, those managing access can see your medical (including if you need glasses) and training status, or any other relevant detail.

If you can't have the vaccine for whatever reason, this would be logged in your QR code. the precedents for this are already out there.

yep bang on mushroom, the systems are already in place.
How would the system work for foreign tourists, for example?
// How would the system work for foreign tourists, for example? //

per my earlier post. the access scheme in my industry provides for ad-hoc visitors by issue of a "temporary" e-permit that can be applied for (and issued) in minutes. this could be applied for prior to travel, or created and issued at point of entry at the expense of (say) a 10mn delay at immigration. the solutions are out there.

Not sure TCL, I suspect it will have to be integrated with the passport system. All countries will have a similar system eventually, this won't happen overnight but I expect it to be added to the checks they do at ports like they do for anti terrorist measures.

they have indeed got the virus under control in their countries. but their borders have effectively become sealed, and will remain so for the forseeable. the second they reopen them, the virus will flood back in, for even the vaccinated can carry the virus, can be infectious and will infect.

Thank you for making my point because the more people that get vaccinated the quicker and easier it will be to deal with!
And if Oz is anything to go by the virus will not come ‘flooding back in’ but I am sure they will be rigorously checked and quarantined etc
"All countries will have a similar system eventually" the government has said they have no intention of issuing "vaccination passports" and I cannot see it happening in America either.

TCL: "the government has said they have no intention of issuing "vaccination passports" and I cannot see it happening in America either. " Who said anything about vaccination passports? Vaccination data will be read as part of the existing passport scans. The government are saying that now but they and the rest of the world will at some point have to work out a way to stop the spread of this and future pandemics. The Damage it has done worldwide will not be allowed to happen on the same scale again.
