..............is manipulative and alarmist, meant to frighten people. And it's succeeded mainly. Back in April, the figures were the number of deaths from Covid. Then, the figures dropped in summer. When the figures started to rise again in September, we had a different interpretation. It was the number of infections that was published. That sounds more serious doesn't it? A few thousand infections but only a few deaths. Let's go down the infections route. It's more alarming. But even the death figure is inaccurate as it shows only deaths within 28 days of a positive test. That's great Mssrs Whitty and Valance! It's just what we need to frighten the people into mass inactivity. I know, I know. It hasn't worked so far and the figures are still rising but at least we're frightening the tish out of everyone aren't we?

But how accurate is it, Squad? people on here think I don't appreciate the seriousness of Covid. You couldn't be more wrong. I carry on based on what I've read about it. That it's the sick, the infirm, the elderly that need the protection a lot more than the rest of the population. As I mentioned earlier, there is priority list for the vaccine. That list should have been used as the basis for lockdown, as opposed to locking down the whole country. Action should, and still could be taken, using that list. That way the most vulnerable would get the protection and would mean people not "dying far sooner than their time", as Jim puts it.
didnt you post this earlier in the month .... and 2 months ago .... and a month before that?
Some people will only begin to take this virus seriously when patients are lying on corridor floors, gasping for breath and dying . Already several are being treated in ambulances and the backlog of people waiting to be seen for other medical appts. other than covid is reaching breaking point. NHS staff are only human beings and they too are getting the virus and having to isolate. That is leading to a staff shortage. The situation is growing increasingly more serious every day . Time now to get together and do our utmost to get on top of this virus. It is not the time for nit-picking, fault finding and scoring points. Life is too precious to throw away.
clarion......
I respect your reasonings but do not accept them.
Unless the majority, the vast majority take this pandemic seriously and are scared to death by whatever means, the some time soon, the NHS will be overwhelmed and doctors will have to decide who will live and who will die. A difficulty decision for any human being and it takes guts......I havedone it twice in my lifetime and it is called..MURDER.
Ignore the r factors, statistics, comments on AB and ask ANY, medical or nursing professional what is happening and they will give you the true situation.

Be scared my friend as you have good reason to be.
oo la la
quel bon mot!

let us divide the govt response - if that it be - into three
1. first with cases elsewhere - we are ready ! and that can only be on what went on before abroad - ignored mainly. and what had gone on at home with previous- old lessons inapplicable
2.the second phase of learning - that is if there were any - was during the first wave. First the successes - if there had been any - the recovery trial was started. This is the only trial of results in the world as the NHS does research which is NOT fee generating. and is the only one.
Recovery identified against presidential preference - hydroxychlorouine didnt work, inrravenous dettol wouldnt work and antibody didnt work. Steroids did. mechanical ventilation was not expected cure all
The third phase is to amalgamate ( if they have tried) these results into the next wave. (I want to avoid confusing terminology such as: "the third phase concerned the second wave of infections, primarily and looked as tho they were learning at last") The case fatality ratio (not rate that involves a time element) fell from 15% to around 0.5%
this means that there are far more infections generating the 1000 deaths a day than there were in the first part. and I think the restating of data reflects this.
Thhe fall of 15% to 0.5% is a thirty fold drop and the doctors really have no idea why.

Call me albert Ion-steen, Naomi (bless) calls me walter mitty.
all the proles snigger ( altho the editor assures me that 45% at the last poll had no idea who Albert Einstein is or was)
Sqad - shooting Matron is not murder - - it is an act of love !
( er thanks to allan ginsburg )

Was gonna write about how it’s all been mismanaged but know what I’ll not bother .Happy new year .
I think citizens of most countries around the world don't believe that their government has handled the situation well.
was going to write about how its impossible to control 65 million people into accepting the laws, rules that have been introduced - but its all been done before..
?? why didnt you post this earlier in the month .... and 2 months ago .... and a month before that?/

because he is nt a telepath, seer or prophet

one can leave that to Sqad ( no no joke! ward show sketch barb, bad boy, botch, down - bad thing)

first phase - 20% chance of dying if you were admitted to hospital. now, many thousands are in hospital but the intensive care units have capacity

oh forgot - first phase, problem with deniers, covid what covid, it is just ordinary 'flu labelled as covid
involving mathematical geniuses ( "I am good with numbers" ) such as NJ

rocky, the worldometer list contains 220 countries, so about half of them should be able to say they've done better than average. The UK's currently 13th from the top or bottom, depending. (That's deaths per million, which seems to be the best measure on it, though there will inevitably be differences in the way deaths are reported.)

I’ve previously pointed out to 10CS that it’s the same the world over. He’s never given any satisfactory reply as to why he’s singling out our Govt. I’m pretty sure he’s just another Trotsky who will blame anyone in power if they aren’t vaguely communist.
i did not write "why didn't you post this" pp i wrote "didnt you post this" - ie i have seen this before on more than one occasion from 10 cs. All he needs to do is get in how crap girls playing sports are and hell have a full house
Ah, so a misogynist commie! What a combination.
Covid is indeed a horrible disease, but I know a lot more poeple who have had it and survived than have had it and died. Every death is a tradgedy of course. However, the government IS using scare tactics to try and control the 'masses' but its not working. The way they record deaths is absurd. Yesrday they reported over 900 deaths of people who died FOR ANY REASON following a positive Covid Test. So, Jon Doe tests positive for Covid on December 1st -has a week of not feeling too good but after a fortnight feels well again. Driving to work the next week he wraps his car around a tree and unfortunately dies -his death is recorded as Covid. Jane Doe is in a care hoe with incurable cancer and is given maximum 12 weeks to live. She tests positive for Covid but has little if no symptoms. She unfortunately succumbs to her cancer within the 28 days of being tested -so now she's died of Covid. this is why the Government death figures are inaccurate.
why didnt you write....
yeah sozza - no why
my one eye fills in words which arent there

what you mean you see words like snoyda which arent there
yeah

sozza again....
Latest report I saw on TV last night from some hospital management, and NHS workers within those hospitals is that they have more young people now in ICU than they have ever seen, ranging from 20yrs upwards. I shop twice, a week for food, beginning and end of week. My observation during those trips, since boxing day is Currys, Primark, Debenhams, House of Fraser, TK Max, B&M, Next, and many more, all with people queuing up outside the shop, Currys had 32 waiting the one day, all after that so called sale item.
Peoples appetite for material things will in some cases kill them.
APG, I agree with everything you said there. I don't even look at the death rate as there's not point.
// Jane Doe is in a care hoe with incurable cancer and is given maximum 12 weeks to live.//
and what a hoe

and another scenario is that Jane Doe does NOT die from anything after 12 w and my god how the relations whine and scream having sold the hosue etc....

life expecfancies..... you know that soomeone doesnt come into the room and blow a whistle on the day appointed and the person croaks?
you didnt - well you do now

Death certs are known to be uncertain for research purposes - and that is NOT a 2020 discovery

and if all flus are ecorded as covid - that will come out in an excess deaths analysis - as the statisticians well know but have concealed
APG, That situation regarding other deaths and putting it down has covid was put right 3 months ago I believe when Matt Hancock reduced the death figure by about 10k, From 60k to 50k, can't really remember what month it was, but it did happen, and local doctors were mainly to blame for that false figure.
