A bit drastic, but I believe that the ultimate goal of the present goverment, and has been since they first got in, is the destruction of England.

Just like to point out a some of the things that make me believe that, in no particular order, and I don't know how things are in Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland.

One of the first things they did was sell off half our Gold reserves, if the Regional Assembly bill had got through, ( and I believe they'll try again), Britain will be split up into areas, no nation states, Scotland and Wales, will be one area each, and will retain their present names, England will be split into either three or five area's, each area to have its own name, and the name England is to go. (If you don't believe me, do some research), then you have these drink and gambling acts, and Political Correctness, which comes down from this goverment.

There's lots more, but that enough to be going on with, I'd like your opinions on this please, but be civil.

Do you mean England's gold reserves? Not sure what the rest of the question was asking.
You mean as demonstrated by "Judas" Blairs sell out to the EU ?

Sorry if i didn't make it clear, thats yes to both, and Gef, what i'm asking, basically, is if you agree or not with what i've said.
If government in England is devolved down to regions (or up from the counties) then that doesn't mean that England won't exist any more. It's just one possible way of organising government and administration.

bernardo, thats true, it is just one of many options, but my understanding, and of course, we all see things differently, is that if, under the Euro dream, they do away with nation states, Britain will be an island compromising a number of different states, and whereas Wales and Scotland will retain their names, and be just one state each, the name England will no longer be necessary, because it will have been divided up into a number of different states.

And '10', I totally agree with you, except that Blairs Labour goverment is even more extreme than Thatchers, and is following the European dream more ardently than any other since Heath, along with their own agenda.

Although the regional assembly referendum for the North East failed, which should have been an end to it, i still feel that the govt are biding their time and waiting for another stab at splitting England up into a bunch of regions.

www.thecep.org.uk/ is worth a look for info on this subject.

My thoughts exactly jgs, i'll take a look at the link later.

I'm Irish, and proud of it. (btw - That doesn't mean I hate other countries, just love mine). If the English people allow their country to disappear it'll be a sad day.

As for the Euro dream, I'm hugely in favour of a Euro nation. But this wouldn't, and hasn't, made my identity change in any way. No more than a Cornish man, a Scot, or a Welshman in the past several hundred years.
