I loved him as DS Hathaway, but he seems to have gone a bit weird.
With his own political party promoting a rather confused set of ideas.

Not at all. Just saying how I feel about it personally.
"gets all the racists crawling out of the woodwork."

What absolute tripe. Go and dig a couple of gardens.
//So where are the safe spaces for white people then? Plenty of BAME people are racists you know, it is certainly not a one way street.//

Oh, I agree, but as Sainsburys have stated it is a safe place for ALL, I have to assume that they are good to their word and would act upon all racism from all parties.
Where is better to shop? Don't like T**coes and marks is an hours drive away so only go there occasionally. OH likes the gf choice there.
So where should I go?
Sainsburys is my nearest and I shall continue to shope there when I want something they're selling.

Funny nobody gets upset over racism at Morrisons, but they are sooo outraged when a rival says something anti-racist

//No. Why would anyone pay heed to a racist unless they were a racist themselves.//
Not supporting the promotion of one group's views to the detriment of another's is not reacist, it's having an alternative opinion. How dare he not jump onto the wokey wokey bandwagon.
I would have thought that everyone was safe at Sainsbury's so why need to put out this message. Good for Laurence, I like him.
Excuse this little diversion, I use Sainsbury's only occasionally and have just found out that my delivery today has a substitute which I don't like or want. But unlike other supermarkets instead of getting a refund, I have been issued with a Sainsbury's voucher, which must be used within a month. I don't want a wretched voucher I want my money back as I am not going to be forced to shop there again just to get back what is mine. Does this happen to anyone else? I'm wondering if it's a local thing. I'm also wondering if it's legal.
13:50 thought it was too good to be true that he'd stay away !!!
//thought it was too good to be true that he'd stay away !!!//

I'm sorry Shirley, was that reference to me or whoever it was ymf was referring to?
A) of course he’s racist. You support Black History month because it’s important, or you think it’s not important, and you shouldn’t be surprised at geing labelled a racist.

B) I’d like evidence of Sainsbury’s being dear. I suppose in comparison to Lidl, maybe.
//I’d like evidence of Sainsbury’s being dear. I suppose in comparison to Lidl, maybe//

Well, go to a price comparison site then. Whenever I've used them, they've tended to be pricier than my usual supermarkets (Morrisons or Asda)
you know how it is Allen, all these Remoaners would sooner shop in German supermarkets than British ones. They're all in the pay of Merkel.
yes I think he is getting strange....which of course is his prerogative.
My local Sainsburys always clean and helpful. Staff very conscious about sterilising and distancing more than can be said for Li**s. I shall stick to Sainsburys as they are the best and cheapest round here.
As on the other thread, why would anyone take seriously the utterings of a minor celeb?

Apparently he has raised £5Million from former UKIP donors to set up a new political party called ‘Reclaim’. He celebrated that with having ‘Freedom’ tattooed on his hand.
His beef with Sainsbury is that they are supporting BLM. So he is going to boycott them. I guess his Fortnum and Mason loyalty card will be getting hammered from now on.
Is he going to boycott all profession sport too. You cannot watch without athletes taking a knee.
Life would be very restricting for me if I boycotted everyone with a different view to my own. But I would probably start with Reclaim - UKIP lite.
Mozz, 13:50, not even a good try.

It seems to me that people who see racism in everything need to take a good hard look at themselves.

Jno, //Funny nobody gets upset over racism at Morrisons//

Why would they? As far as I’m aware Morrisons haven’t issued a statement as Sainsbury’s have. Your link simply reports a racist incident in one of their shops, which has been dealt with. The antagonist no longer works for them - and rightly so.
Morrisson's operations director is Maz Ahmed, who is also..... the sponsor of Morrison’s Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority (BAME) programme, to improve diversity for BAME colleagues, and been recognised in the 2020 Empower Ethnic Minority Role Model list.

They don't need to announce it, its engrained.
//Mozz, 13:50, not even a good try.//

If you were already convinced it was an insult, why bother questioning it?

Oh well, if the cap fits...
Mozz, you can't help yourself.
//He does appear to have a bee in his bonnet..//

The bee was placed in his bonnet by a woman whose name escapes me (well, actually it doesn’t escape me because I never noted it in the first place). She told Mr Fox that he could not possibly understand the problems that black people endure because he was white (which may be true, may be not) but also for that same reason he almost certainly had racist tendencies.

So I can imagine he was a bit peeved. I would be too.
