….the ones that led to them being attacked and 12 of their staff being killed.

oh dear. what might the reaction of certain adherents of a certain religion be to this - and could it be argued that Charlie Hebdo will have brought any adverse reaction on themselves?

We will see....although it is strange that the Huff Post was not attacked when it posted the cartoons if they do.
You don't have to say 'a certain religion'

Most religions get slated for various reasons. They can only hope it won't happen again. Their insurance might raise though.
It's their choice and they should be allowed to do so, whether it's a wise move is yet to be seen.

Even understandable acts of defiance can have unpleasant reactions.

I hope that isn't the case here.
No it can't be argued that they would have brought any violent reaction on themselves - no excuse for violence. They will probably bring adverse comment/reaction from some quarters - but that's Charlie Hebdo's stock in trade and it is necessary in society to have an irritant. Good for them in refusing to be frightened about re-publishing.
I have a copy of the original paper and the one with Mohammed looking sad - I think it's captioned 'Not in my name'. I really must get around to getting them framed. I'll never forget the feeling throughout France - we all said 'Je suis Charlie' on greeting anyone and it was good to feel the unity of the peaceful majority.
Good, you can't be pandering and know towing to certain groups.
A victim isn't to be blamed even if they know of threats against them by the mentally unstable.
I hope there is no "adverse reaction", but of course they wouldn't be bringing it on themselves.
They may well be ready for them this time.
It will be interesting to see the reaction of the religion of peace.
10,000 Muslims protested in London last time. (against the magazine)
Good. Well done Charlie Hebdo.
// Even understandable acts of defiance can have unpleasant reactions.//

if they didnt have reactions, they wouldnt be defiant would they ?
just frow away one liners - the sort you read any day on AB
Thanks for the critique.
pleasure ma'am
plaisir - even - (non non, le plaisir - c;est le mien)

The difference being that it was done before
and so the reaction may well be different a second time (that isnt too subtle for AB is it?)

(like you know, they wont now wait outside Le Bataclan, whilst 99 DDIIIIEEEE inside)
Charlie Hebdo
didnt someone outside the offices say
"Sharlee Ebdo - non, troisieme etage - en haut?"

but then DIDNT go inside the office and say barricade the doors - three men wiv guns are outside

he sortta went downstairs for a cafe

and I suggest this time he WOULD go inside and holler ....
"Even understandable acts of defiance can have unpleasant reactions."

Some acts of defiance are not tolerated e.g.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hara-Kiri_(magazine)

The latest Hebdo compendium warrants no reprisal.
Good to them.
At no point did I suggest that any reprisals should be tolerated, indeed should any occur they should be pounced on heavily.
