So he got the bullet for collaborating with the opposition. Sounds reasonable to me.
A fair point, danny, although since the ISC also examines the policies of the Cabinet Office, gathers evidence from Ministers, etc, then it is clearly a part of their remit to oversee what the Government is doing as regards security etc.
For Woofgang @ 12.06

He studied as a postgraduate at St Antony's College, Oxford, being awarded the DPhil in Strategic Studies in 1981.
Yes Jim, the Government, not the PM in particular.

Former Commons speaker John Bercow, who I know is very popular on a/b says
"This Goverment has made a complete Exhibition of Itself", by taking this action with Julian Lewis
And for once I agree with Bercow.
Just to be clear, TTT: for the Prime Minister to try and influence or control the membership of the Committee goes against the spirit of the 2013 Justice and Security Act, ie the part about "the Chair of the ISC [is] chosen by its members." So that Grayling was known to be the PM's preferred choice since March is fairly shocking, and a rather deeper attempt to influence and control a body than anything Dr Lewis has pulled off. He has merely become "the Chair of the ISC chosen by its members." Why that is grounds to remove him from the Tory party, regardless of whether or not the members who chose him were mainly Opposition members, is beyond anybody. It's revenge, pure and simple, and revenge for somebody who disturbed plans that should never have been put in place.
He has not been removed from the Tory party, merely deprived of the whip.
You have to have reservations about anyone whose preferred preference is Chris Grayling.

It's politics, which has always been a murky world.
In Parliamentary terms it amounts to the same thing.

J/D @ 11.39 you did not believe this post but at 12.16 you do . " Google is your friend "
"It's politics, which has always been a murky world."

Of course this isn't the first such power play and won't be the last, but I don't see why that in itself should be reason to tolerate it. Is it really so unreasonable to demand that politicians *not* engage in such petty behaviour?

Question Author
Its quite obvious that Julian Lewis was chosen , he knows more about ,
Intelligence and security than Chris Grayling.
Gulliver//he knows more about ,
Intelligence and security than Chris Grayling.//
And how do you know what either of them know?
Let me guess, you don't have any proof as usual.
He knows everyfink about uK politics Danny :0(
Question Author
Cummings wanted Chris Grayling in the job so that he could radicalise him.
