TTT, watching his statement last night it was obvious that he was wriggling out of a situation that was against the rules. He should go.
PS I am not a leftie as anyone who has read my posts will know.
That's just the sort of thing a Leftie would say.
I can't wade through 122 answers so apologies if this is out there already. but...…

it would appear Mr Cummings sister is a director of Idox, the company that has the contract for the Track & Trace app (I checked with Companies House, and indeed she is) - the same Idox that *** up the Brexit referendum postal votes.

oh and Glaxo-Smith-Kline are in Barnard Castle, they got their government-announced contract to manufacture the CV19 vaccine in the same timeframe that Mr Cummings was seen there.

of course it could all be coincidence......
Funny old times we live in when I agree with Danny! Cummings performance was woeful in general and the cock-and-bull story about "testing his eyesight" beggars belief. The farce was compounded by Boris shutting down further questions re Cummings in the subsequent daily briefing. I hope they both had a sleepless night and a smidgeon of guilt about their behaviour.

Then read my past posts.
That deserves its own thread mushroom25.
I am not following developments, but is the tra(anagram)faced little laewes(anagram)still in a job?Not that he has ever done a days work in his whole life.
I think Boris was right to shut down the further questions re Cummings in the 7pm Covid briefing. The press had already had an hour to ask Cummings their questions about his movements and reasons.
I agree with danny though about Cummings' statement and performance. Having said that, I know loads of people who are bending the rules including one neighbour who bleats about the lockdown being too lax and Boris not doing enough- I hear him telling his friends who come round for drinks in the garden sharing wine bottles and snacks
I agree with Jim. If he'd simply said "yes, I made the wrong call. With hindsight I shouldn't have done it" that would have seen an early end to the matter. We all make errors of judgement. Now, thanks to his arrogance it will run and run and probably seriously damage the government's credibility (such that it has) in dealing with the crisis. If Bojo is prepared to put up with that then it's his call.
why was his wife even in the car as she had the virus - surely the irrefutable rules were to stay at home and self isolate.
She had symptoms, rsvp, but not necessarily the virus. DC went over all the reasoning. The whole story didn't hold water for me- eg why did they all have to go, why didn't she drive back, who normally looks after the child while they work, did they really drive all that way without filling up with petrol- he remembered loads of detail but was unsure whether he stopped for fuel on the way back. There are too many holes in the story to dwell on individual ones
Cummings must be important to Boris and TNP, he now has his own Police Escort to protect him.
Do we know that his car has a petrol engine? A diesel could make that whole trip one one tank of fuel.
Gulliver // he now has his own Police Escort to protect him.///
Do you have a link, or is this just another piece of false news?
Suppose Boris could always "Furlough" Cummings and put him on 80% of his Salary, that would take the heat off.
bhg: "I knew that I had a full tank of petrol, I could drive to a place that was completely isolated from everybody else"

If he did have a diesel car, he's even stupider than he seems.
ff, the thing that beats me is the claim that he was observing social distancing. Did he take a ministerial stretch limo with everyone six feet apart?
jno - not necessarily. We've had a diesel for 20 years now and we still talk about putting petrol in. It's just habit from the years we did have petrol cars.
well, that's what he said; I'm doing him the courtesy of believing one sentence he spoke...
