Hancock scared to death to face Piers Morgan and his Questions. This is your so called health minister, who is now dictating to employers that they are responsible for providing PPE in the work place to ensure there safety, this is the guy, that for weeks has failed to protect his own staff on the front line with PPE, not only failed, but the eye protection goggles he did provide where 3/4 years out of date, but insisted that they had been re- tested, but when asked to provide details of the testing, (couldn't) so has now re-called all this PPE, and condemned it, why? he was telling more porkies.
Funny how now after weeks of saying that face masks don't help, that both him and Boris are now recommending them, and to make sure that the so called safety guide lines are followed by employers ( whatever they may be?) are now spending 15 million on employing government jobworths to do spot checks on safety in the work place. Who was spot checking Matt Hancock? Get ready for the next wave of deaths, big time. Oh and I was right about face masks. What happening here is, this government can't come up with a plan, so the next big wave of deaths will be blamed onto the employers shoulders.

You’re floundering, Steg (and looking increasingly daft with it). If you want to call me out for being a hypocrite, maybe avoid a hippocritical comment insinuating the person doing it is ‘sad’, eh?

12.22 has I've already said TV this morning, that's why P. Morgan wanted to question him. I've not seen any section that may refer to a world wide pandemic in the work place, or in health and safety in the work place. And really how can any government say to any employer that you have to make the workplace safe from a virus, Have they made the NHS safe?
The daft bit, Iwas born daft, lived daft, and will probably die daft. I’m a forester daft is our middle name
Is Hancock responsible for issuing guidance to employers in general?
I’m still waiting for you to explain why you quoted me and then mentioned Site Rules. Hippocrasy isn’t mentioned in them, so let’s not go down that road, Steg.

12.39, Don't expect employers to achieve what he couldn't himself, just because you can't find an answer, don't just throw the problem onto someone else, and that's what they are doing.
The face mask thing - the official and scientific view is the bog standard might stop you spreading it but not catching it so you were not right/we were not wrong (whichever tack you took).
Employers ought to be savvy enough to do their job, such as caring for their staff, without Big Brother taking their job over by giving explicit instructions.
A mask is a covering. Vice versa not necessarily so. But the same arguments for and against apply.

12.45, if you look at my past posts ( I've always said, help prevent spread) is this not what we are trying to do, ( stop the spread)?
//And really how can any government say to any employer that you have to make the workplace safe from a virus,//

workplace safety is not the government's responsibility - it is legally the responsibility of the employer. my company has this morning taken a first look at the guidelines issued yesterday and from the initial page-turn, there will be no change to the arrangements that have existed since the 20th march, that is all offices closed except to the 24hr control staff, and workshop floors restricted to dedicated work crews. having risk-assessed the guidelines, the offices cannot safely be opened.

12.54 I agree, NO one can guard against a out of control world wide virus, and this government should not pile this onto the shoulders of employers. Its a disgrace.

Try 12.23 reply, your the only one going “down that road” zach, your looking for something that’s not there

1250 - I don't absorb all your posts but have always been of the impression that you think masks stop you catching it.
There’s a evidently a bit of a misconception about the Govt’s role here. They are politicians from all walks of life, not medical or H&S experts. They have to be guided by experts. The expectation that they can suddenly pronounce on such matters is naive, to say the least.
At what point would you say it would be safe for folk to return to work and how far in the future would that be?

Question Author
13.02 No, help stop the spread, that's what everyone is trying to do, if you control the spread less die don't they??
Will the additional steps to be taken by employers not mitigate the risks whilst allowing businesses and employees to make more money?
Teacake - loads have people have been working throughout this crisis- carers, farmers, NHS staff, postal workers, shop workers, call centre staff, bank staff, bus drivers, funeral directors, delivery drivers, many gardeners, etc
Maybe you posted at the time saying how awful it was that Boris. Hancock was allowing these people to work and risk spreading the disease,
All that we've done is opened things up a bit and said employers should consider whether they can make their place of work safe enough to reopen. Some will be able to. Some won't because they have already gone out of business or are still not allowed to reopen- eg hotels, pubs, restaurants. Some will decide it's easier or necessary to just carry on with the furlough schemes paid for by the government.
I wonder whether the changes are as dramatic or dangerous as you think
