Following on from the PMs message last night, Boris will be revealing more in-depth clarity on the 'Stay Alert' road map and plans today.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52612449

Have the British been too quick to criticise Boris and the Gov. on this?

With his message, is he putting too much trust in the public to maintain social distancing whilst going back to work and seeing friends and family? Do we all interpret information/guidelines differently?

If this has all been covered in the 'Oh Dear Boris' thread, please delete.

Not like this.

People have to be reassured that it is safe, and the new measures do not do that. Businesses need demand to unmothball their employees, and there isn’t the demand, most probably because the buying public aren’t stupid and know that C-19 has not gone away.
The Prime Minister may be urging us on the carry on as normal, but when he did that, he nearly died. Most people seemingly have a better sense of self preservation than the tenant in No.11 DS.

Once people start getting back to work the demand will reappear - you have to start somewhere.
One ought not need to have to spell out everything to a public with the ability to think. It's a case of, use common sense to keep basic precautions and distance whilst easing a little back towards normality. It is directed towards the nation, it doesn't have to be specific to employers or employees, they are all part of the nation. Load of fuss over nothing.
all pretty clear to anyone who's IQ exceeds their shoe size. Won't stop the anti Britsh and nasty left having a love in but we're used to that.
Thousands have carried on working throughout without succumbing to the virus - or if they have the symptoms have been negligible or short-lived. There's no reason healthy people shouldn't return to work - and for the sake of the country the sooner the better.
Naomi //Thousands have carried on working throughout without succumbing to the virus//
I agree that the sooner people get back to work the better, but how do you know whether or not workers have succumbed to the virus?
Certainly agree with your second sentence ttt.
danny, you've copied only half my sentence. The rest reads //or if they have the symptoms have been negligible or short-lived. //
Question Author
I think the majority of the non-tested population have had the virus already.
Naomi, but how do you know this?
I've heard nothing about shop workers or dustmen or postmen, etc, dying in their thousands, danny. Have you?
Naomi, no, not heard anything about workers being infected or not infected, that is my point, how do you know if they have or haven't been infected?Just because there have been no reports about this does not been that there have not been any infections.
tiggerblue do you think they had it with no or very very little in the way of symptoms?
Question Author
Probably very little or no symptoms. Just my opinion though.
danny, //Just because there have been no reports about this does not been that there have not been any infections. //

I didn't say there haven't been any infections. Quite the opposite. We know there have because we know that healthy people are contracting the virus and suffering little or no symptoms. Anyone in that situation is being told not to go to hospital but to self-isolate. They are not dying of it.
Well it seems that it has been ok for my pregnant daughter to work (frontline) in a care home all through this and my other daughter a sever asthmatic to work as a doctor in a midlands hospital.

So I have little sympathy for the moaners.
Can't access that, Nick. I don't have a Facebook account.

What did he say?
It's this clip, naomi ...

Boris sounded very confident and because he was reading from the autocue there weren't the usual umm, er, ums , er and general rambling. However, when you read the text of his speech and look for the detail - there isn't any. That's why people are confused. I'm waiting for the detail to appear today - misplaced optimism???
