As long as it's replaced by a fit-for-purpose elected upper chamber, then great. But I'm not holding my breath that they'll get sufficient MPs to get it on the agenda.

I’ll be voting Boris anyway O_G, I wish he’d had this little gem, I can dream
MPs will not vote for the abolition of the Lords in its current form for the same reason as most of them want to remain in the EU. Both institutions provide a very useful and lucrative alternative (usually late-life) career when they get booted out of the Commons.
I like a lot of his pledges, and apart from wanting to plant trees, he hasn’t jumped on the climate change bandwagon.
Nor the mental health bandwagon.

No Brexit candidate in my area, though.
"I’ll be voting Boris"

He has a fairly safe seat, so I'm sure he'll still be your local MP on 13th December. Unfortunately.
Since the Brexit Party is not seeking to be the next Government, how does Farage intend to carry out this pledge to abolish the House of Lords?

You might like what you’re hearing but he might as well have pledged for all tramps to be able to shiiiiyt gold.
He has about as much hope of implementing his policies as Jo Swinson.
THECORBYLOON, you said on another thread

“The problem is, if folk don't vote for a party only because they will not win the General Election, how are they to gain or increase their party's representation in Parliament? “

Doesn’t that apply here?
BIGBAD, I was quoting from their "Contract" which says, "We are not seeking election as a government.
We are seeking to deliver the Brexit that we were promised three and a half years ago."
If Corbyn had said he wanted to abolish the Lords he’d be accused of being a Trot and anti-British for being against tradition.

Since the abolition of hereditary Peers, the Lords is much improved. We need a second chamber to keep the Government in check, and it needs to be ‘professional’ not full of elected numpties. While the present system is far from perfect, it does mean that the Government is scrutinised by people who understand the problems because they are ex-ministers or people who have worked for (or against) politicians in their working lives.
Abolishing the House Of Lords is throwing the baby out with the bath water
Who would vote in somebody they had never heard of ?
It is true that is used as a a reward for party loyalty and personal friendships etc, and this is wrong.
Used correctly nominees should be experts in their fields and not somebody necessarily known or popular with the general public. Ex politicians, economists, scientists, engineers, philosophers, ex university lecturers, Community Activists, ex Policemen etc etc etc. A body of expertise in all fields unknown to the
Public capable of legislative scrutiny.
Reform not abolition.
agree but it's never going to happen..
Presently, they are not above the law but above the hurly burly of politics.
That's not a bad idea! Have an elected Upper House.
If only Farage had said this earlier.

It could have saved Boris wasting his time by trying to bribe Farage with a Peerage.
One person's so called professionals is another bunch of ruling elites lording it over the rest of us. Wrong in principle. So called professionals can be used to advise if required. Democracy demands elected representation of the public's views.
‘ Democracy demands elected representation of the public's views‘

Remind me, how has that worked for Brexit?
//‘ Democracy demands elected representation of the public's views‘

Remind me, how has that worked for Brexit?//

Since our elected representatives haven’t represented the public’s views on Brexit, that’s a slly question.
It was a rhetorical question, N. Made to point out the flaw(S) in OGs explanation of how democracy works.
