// Tory MPs who vote against the government in the Commons this week will be chucked out of the party and banned from standing for the Conservatives at the next election. //

Cummings has gone more bonkers than Momentum. Should be fun :-)

Democracy ?
Only one? Politicians in this country have gone stark, staring mad. The Sunday Times today has Boris warning about Corbyn getting into power! Ha! That's a laugh, innit? Pot kettle/kettle pot? We'll have Tommy Cooper next.
Fair enough. Those that won't stand up for democracy aren't UK politician material. What decent party would want them ?
This is dictatorship, Boris said Churchill was his Hero.
Or did he mean Hitler ? because he is certainly acting like him. Get rid of Boris Now !.

OG,
Eight of Boris’ current Cabinet have voted against the Government this year.

Last year Conservative MPs faced a strict three-line whip to back the plans for a third runway at Heathrow. Boris suddenly found some urgent business to do in Afghanistan and avoided the vote.
08.23 Gromit. And he managed to get back to the UK the very next day, what a Coward , and now he is Pm. God help us all
Bully for him. But expanding Heathrow isn't something that I recall the country voting to get done.

Anyway, a party needs to sling out the chaff when there's a risk of a GE. It needs to be seen to have the intent to do the right thing and send a clear message to that effect.
I don’t generally believe MPs should be deselected just because they disagree with the party line. But there comes a point when they have to be aware if they don’t tow the party line they put the whole party and country in danger.

Oh and by the way Gromit momentum have been deselecting and worse on the behalf of Labour more or less since day one. Just because they haven’t been in the spotlight recently doesn’t mean their nasty ways have stopped.
Opinion Poll on TV , says if we had a second Referendum now " The Remainers would Win "
Oh my Gawd.
ordinarily I'd have a problem with this but these are unusual times. The PM is trying to implement the will of the people against a tide of VBQC, I'd say special measures are necessary and warranted in this case.

// there's a risk of a General Election //
If this happens the risk will increase to a certainty. The Government have a majority of just 1. If several MPs are deselected and the whip withdrawn then they will be a minority Government and an Election will need to be called.

Cassa,
I am well aware of Momentums antics which is why I mentioned them. Boris and Cummings are behaving exactly the same as them.
Gulliver: for ordinary folk in this country, i.e. us, the great unwashed, being in or out of the EU won't make the slightest difference.

Convenient ;-/
gromit, the forces of the VBQC have done all they can to thwart the democratic will of the majority. The PM is merely implementing the result of the referendum.
I recall polls claiming that remain would win prior to the last referendum. Still, no matter how many project fear managed to sway from supporting the right thing, we already made the decision, no value in spending more time and money confirming it.
Gromit //Boris and Cummings are behaving exactly the same as them//
The difference is that Momentum are de-selecting any party member who is not hard left.Boris is threatening to do it because Tory members are rebelling.

Presumably to make it easier for Boris’ fascists to get rid of moderates.

It makes sense to clear out the dross before the GE, if you stand the same people who ignore the constituents wishes then you lose those seats. If you replace them before the GE you stand a chance of holding onto that seat for following your constituents wishes.

The Conservative Manifesto at the last election promised...

// Britain needs a strong and stable government to get the best Brexit deal for our country and its people. //

If Boris fails to deliver ‘the best Brexit Deal’, it will be him and his cabal who are failing their constituents wishes. Those who got elected and want the best deal are those sticking to their promises.
