Presumably to make it easier for Agent COB's brown shirts to get rid of moderates.

so moderates out Labour hardliners in, not the kind of politics i would want on my doorstep.
I watched the start of the labour conference yesterday where even this proposal was being attacked by a succession of CLP delegates as a fudge foisted on conference by the NEC. They basically wanted compulsory appraisals for all MPs. Which in theory is a good idea but should surely be a matter for constituents generally.
Then up got party chairman Ian Lavery, embezzler and ex football hooligan. And I thought: is this what labour has become?
I’d have more time for labour in its current form were it not so self obsessed. It’s a party for its members only largely. Tho actually it’s probably not alone in that :-)
Didn't political parties in the early 1930's use bully boy tactics to get rid of opponents? I thought you were supposed to learn from the mistakes of the past?
Are there any moderates ? All Tories and Trots, surely.
How are grass roots voters supposed to vote for a Labour candidate with any confidence, knowing that they could be deselected by the party?
Ferret across the Mersey.
You can always tell when the Cons on here are running scared, and wetting themselves with Fright. [ when every other post is attacking the Opposition].
The party that really really needs to get their own house in order first before trying to ridicule others is The Conservative Party, what a shambles.
^ ag ag ag....what an amazing input you make to this site and its content
quite agree gulliver1 ...but having said that labour are total shambles corbyn and abbott running the country is unthinkable ....some fine choices this country has!
Haha Gulliver, and of course every comment you post on any thread is not attacking the Cons is it? Much? Except of course when you are being rude to another ABer.

11.17 , Haha ladybirder, and of course any comment posted on any thread by the Con Party supporters is not attacking the Labour Party is it ? I am only rude to another Aber when he/she is rude to me. Hate to repeat myself, but own house in order first. Example read the post below yours.
interesting that labour's rank and file are campaigning for a second referendum - what they're calling "the people's vote". which kinda suggests that they don't believe the 17-odd million who didn't vote remain last time don't qualify as people......
11.12 So pleased you appreciate my amazing input to this site and its content .
Thank for the Compliment, you have made my Day , many thanks.
Oh Dear ^^^
PMSL,
As you say TTT it does make it much easier to get shot of the moderates.

In some ways you could understand this, after all who wants people in the party who dont toe the line? However when it is people like Tom Watson they want rid of you really do have to question where the labour, sorry New communist, Party will end up.

I am pretty sure we will see The British Labour Party or similar start up soon.
Personally I think ALL MPs should be subject to the equivalent of a MOT test to judge if they are fit to hold the post of MP. I reckon at least 70% would fail.
Tony Bliar invented "The peoples Princess" now the rag tag party want a " Peoples Vote" what about a peoples car, no wasn't that done in Germany a few years ago.
Celtigra, Douglas Adams had it about right, I think -

“The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.

To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.”
