Best news of the day, good on HM.
What a palaver.
So far finally so good.
She was never likely to say no was she?
Of course not. Sadly, as feared, she has been dragged into a controversy with ignorant comments from both sides praising her or criticising her.
//She was never likely to say no //

indeed. this parliament has run for 2 years, well past its sell by date. proroguing prior to a fresh state opening is a perfectly legitimate constitutional act - there's no way HMQ could refuse. the timing of the announcement and the duration of the shutdown may well be suspect, but that's another matter.
and who or what is HMQ, pway ?

taking a leaf out of Buenchicos book from las tonight give or take a comma

saboteuse please

oh - you know - you dont really
saboteur is from sabot a boot or wooden clog that was thrown into the machine to er sabotage them?
just saying
The length of parliament is immaterial. The PM asks for it: the Queen grants it. That’s how it works.
I was going to say similar to Peter. Hmq (lower case) is pretty disrespectful.
// there's no way HMQ could refuse //

There's no way she could refuse anything that any government requests of her. She is symbolic and requesting that that she gives permission for anything is purely ritualistic.
Who would attack europe-400million,26 countries-no one!
" " UK-anyone-66million & skint,also full of snivelling,greedy ***.
Deserves everything coming-anyway the Q is from superior stock.
That only primes the grenade. The beginning of September is still a problem though. Parliament will reopen on the 14th and Boris should promptly go to the Country after making the speech setting out his Governments manifesto in the guise of announcing the new legislation and business that he intends to lead them to. Then dissolve parliament the next day if there is no vote of no confidence forthcoming. Now those tricky early days between the current recess and the proroguement. The danger is that the breakaway factions manage to crash laws, or a law, through the house of commotions banning Brexit, as has always been their intention. Boris therefor needs to do a Herbert Asquith and introduce a Parliamentary bill that limits the Lords from defying the will of the British majority and specifically the voting public, with the threat that he will promote 400 Tories to the Lords(Brexiteers to a man/woman). The Lords will have to swallow it or see there cosy club demolished just like they did in 1911.
He won’t call an election before Oct 31.
Unless he’s insane.
Which I don’t think he is although I’m not sure about his chief adviser.
The risks would be enormous. Brexit planning goes tits up in the middle of an election campaign? What then?
Anything could happen.
He also has himself a far from safe seat to defend and he’d have to spend time campaigning there as well as everything else.
He’d also be wise to consider the latest opinion poll which shows a huge majority disapproving of his action.
I'm starting to think you just might pull it off Boris ..
> I think the chances of a no-deal Brexit are a million-to-one against
> Boris Johnson, 26 June 2019

I still have every faith that our glorious PM will lead us triumphantly on 31 October with a wonderful deal. This is clearly just a tactic to get that deal.
To “succeed” he doesn’t really have to do anything. Which he seems to be doing quite well :-)
He has of course left three weeks effectively less for parliament to vote on a deal never mind a no deal.
Well, it’s certainly seems to have stirred the political pot. Joanna Cherry talking about speeding up the Scottish vote. Ian Murray leading a 70 strong ‘clique’ seeking an interim interdict to ban the Prorogation. Dominic Grieve flapping around talking about no confidence votes. Sheesh. If they’d all moved their backsides at this speed 3 years ago we”d be busy making new deals by now.
How has the Queen been dragged into political controversy? She acts on the advice of her ministers; it's her job.
