I wondered if it wasn’t his intention all along to get the trial cancelled. It’s hard otherwise to explain how anyone could be so stupid.
As for asylum, he has always lectured certain “foreigners” about abiding by the laws of a country or leaving. So maybe he’s just being consistent ;-)

If I was as scared of prison - or more accurately the 'Muslim Gangs' that run it, as 'Tommy Robinson' claims to be, I would be making strenuous attempts to ensure that I did not run the risk of incarceration by breaking UK laws that carry prison sentences.

Such as contempt of court.

cancelled? it is pretty uncommon before a case has been brought but not heard, for the Crown just to give up ....

one case my brudda was involved in ( not the one who did it) The Crown gave up and the judge said - you can't ! there's a dead baby involved !
and they sort of had a hoolie for a few hours.....

is a deterrent
a lot of people ( well me actually) say 60% thos who come out of prison go back in. This would mean that prison is not a deterrent.

Indeed! But Tommy is giving something of a swerve to his own rhetoric here - in his eyes, you live by the rules of the country you move to, or return to your own.

That is not quite the same as not living by the rules of your own country, and then trying to escape the rules by returning to another - which you entered illegally in the first place!!!
