The double standard (fed largely by malice and ignorance, I suggest) which applauds this prosecution is extraordinary. Of course, Robinson as a marked man under a provisional sentence for contempt of court was quite needlessly and, you might think, provocatively standing outside a court a year later live-streaming stuff. Despite that you might ask why...

Why do you assume we can't? Two wrongs don't make a right.
AOG - // Yes, but let's forget those past 'very serious' crimes, his real crime is the fact that he happens to be right-wing, and as such upsets the liberal left establishment by addressing the real crimes that have have been brought to our shores, by those who they have allowed in due to their 'open door' policy. //

Once again you, and others, wilfully ignore the simple realities of this situation, in order to continue to see the situation as you believe it to be.

It appears that in your view, critics of 'Tommy Robinson' equate with defenders of rapists, which is as untrue as it is offensive.

If you really believe that 'Tommy Robinson' is given a 'stay out of jail free' card because he assisted in exposing crimes, and is therefore entitled to the odd slide himself, then that is a skewed way of looking at reality.

You know, and everyone else on here knows, that no-one has ever once defended the actions of the men on trial, but that does not mean that attacking 'Tommy Robinson' for being a criminal equates to seeing him as worse than them - that is palpable nonsense.

This BBC report gives some idea of the risks Tommy Robinson took by confronting the Pakistani community of Huddersfield.
Compare the criminality reported here with his own petty misdemeanors and please try to get some perspective.

Or, perhaps you'd rather look the other way (it is a bit long after all). One paragraph might interest you - the danger of it being used as propaganda by the far right.
//This BBC report gives some idea of the risks Tommy Robinson took by confronting the Pakistani community of Huddersfield. //

Therein lies the problem. Tommy Robinson is prone to taking risks to the point that he is prepared to jeopardize the very justice he seeks to achieve.

He has demonstrated that he can talk sense at times but, unfortunately, he does himself no favours and is more memorable for his misdemeanors.

The best talkers are the worst listeners and he would do himself more favours if he listened to reason and be made to see the error of his ways.

Statistics don't lie as in his recent attempt in the Euro elections.

Whatever he is seen to be doing right is far outweighed by his lack of popularity.

He is undeterred but risky strategies often prove calamitous.
You've missed the point agchristie, and therein lies the real problem, but at least your response was measured.
//he does himself no favours and is more memorable for his misdemeanors. //

Is that because the media reports his misdemeanours more enthusiastically than it reports his attributes?
And not just the media naomi24.
A fair question Naomi. His reputation goes before him stretching back over many years.

He has a number of skills, that there is no doubt, but it is often channelled in the wrong way.

I'm still inclined to believe that his persona is such that he invariably gives too much ammunition to the media.

On the other hand, there are some truths which are very difficult and often ignored completely, for fear of causing alienation....

And demonization of the messenger is a very useful tool ...
Are we to believe though that the media, police and judiciary all have his card marked to the point that whatever he says or does he is doomed to failure?
Yes.
If his views are as popular as some believe, why did he do so badly in the recent European Parliament election that he lost his deposit?
ProfessorMaisie, if they are all complicit then why is he not far more popular with the general public?
The general public has been bullied into silence.
//The general public has been bullied into silence//

Really?!
THECORBYLOON, why the emphasis on popularity?
Breaking the story of the abuse wasn't popular - The Times did it and lost readers week on week.
Yes agchristie - really!
And if you haven't read enough to know that by now, you're extremely naive.
The fans who surround him on his ventures certainly haven't been bullied into silence.
