Interesting to note that the Sun reported that
'One youth appeared to be armed with a long stick as troubled flared'
That so called youth was in fact a police officer.

AH, The nameless people you say have the opportunity to "come along with some verifiable evidence which drives a coach-and-four through your [my] position". Keep up. I'm responding to your words.
AH, //even to 'proudly present' bigotry if that is your desire … //

Clearly it is pumpjack's 'desire', it is certainly not mine! //

Why is it clearly his desire? Perhaps he knows Newham too - something that you 'clearly' do not.

// and you would never be so careless as to proudly present your bigotry based on something you know nothing about, which leaves you - as it did him - the opportunity for someone else to come along with some verifiable evidence which drives a coach-and-four through your position, leaving you looking not only bigoted, but stupid as well.//

andy-hughes/// Naomi - // That was done for the purpose of sending an immediate message to the Muslim community confirming the whereabouts of Khan’s loyalties … in my opinion. //

Since, by his own admission, Mr Khan is not a practising Muslim, why would he be interested in courting their favour, and in view of his absence of faith, why would they be interested in giving it?///

Is that opaque enough for you?
//Since, by his own admission, Mr Khan is not a practising Muslim, why would he be interested in courting their favour,..//

Because, almost unbelievably, there are the odd few of them registered to vote in London who might cast their votes for him (with or without their knowledge) next time round.
"Knowing the area I did likewise. Drawing the unavoidable conclusion doesn't make me racist."

Prejudice comments based on race or religion are racist.
We've been there and done that, spath.

Getting back to the riot that took place in Stratford.

It would seem that if the police try to arrest a black person or persons others will rally violently in their defence.

They come over as very aggressive, listening to a LBC Radio phone-in this morning on the subject of stop and searches, the black callers were very aggressive and constantly shouted over the presenter, in such a loud and aggressive way.
Because they feel suppressed and are trying to fight for a voice and for their opinions to be heard. They're fighting for equality. The fact they have to do that would irate anyone.
//They're fighting for equality. //

Well, they've succeeded, They've achieved equality with thugs.
That comes across as heavily arrogant.
Your perceptions are not my problem, spath.
How hubristic.

/// They're fighting for equality. ///

What are you suggesting, is it that in a majority black area, where knife crime is committed by members of that community, the police should stop and search both black and white on an equal, one to one basis?
That is exactly what I'm saying, yes. The act of only stop and searching black people, is racist unless a specific profile of a person is described in relation to a crime.

Just so I can understand where you are coming from are you yourself black?

What are you suggesting that a black youth has been knifed to death, in a highly black densified area, and that the police should also stop and search a white elderly woman who happens to be walking in that area, just so it won't be classed as racists?
Spath,
//Stop and Search. The police have the power to stop and search you if an officer has reasonable grounds to believe that you have been involved in a crime, or think that you are in possession of a prohibited item. Prohibited items include drugs, weapons and stolen property//
So colour does not come into it.
No I am not black. However, i think i make my opinions very clear when i say "The act of only stop and searching black people, is racist unless a specific profile of a person is described in relation to a crime.".
"So colour does not come into it."

And it shouldn't do. AOG is implying it should. Or at least I feel he is implying it should.

I've said if there is no description of the offender they are looking for, then don't be too specific with your searches.
Police will have to justify their stop and search acts. So in that sense, at least they will need good reason, and so they should have.
//"The act of only stop and searching black people, is racist unless a specific profile of a person is described in relation to a crime.".//

Possibly so. But in many areas the only people out and about when everybody should be tucked up in bed are black (and in many of those areas nearly all the people tucked up in bed are black as well). What do the police do then? Stop nobody because the only suspects they have are black?

The primary function of the police is the prevention of crime. Detection comes second. Stop-and-search is a crime prevention measure so they re not looking for "persons related to a crime".
"Possibly so. But in many areas the only people out and about when everybody should be tucked up in bed are black "

Then you are not specifically targeting black people, you are targeting those who are on the street during a certain time. If they all happen to be black, that is different to selecting only black people.
