Ridiculous.Smacks of jobsworthyness.
i expect the people at the Guinness book of records had to set a standard nurse uniform
I also expect they also have a standard fireman's uniform and a standard rhinoceros outfit
Perhaps they will now change the dress rules for this category, then all the rest will follow.

She knew before taking part, well done to her - a good time.

Smacks of old git syndrome to me.

I am spitting feathers. All that effort, for what?
If she wasn't wearing a nurse's uniform, why should she take the record for wearing a nurse's uniform?
Hopkirk, she was wearing a nurses uniform. Most nurses these days wear slacks rather than skirts,.

they do have a point, it's a joke category, as is chef with big hat and pot. Why they even want a Guinness World Record category of Fastest Nurse in Carry On Uniform, I don't know, but if you want to win it, those are the rules.

I don't think it's any kind of official London marathon rule, it's just Guinness.
What is ridiculous is having a world record for running a marathon in a nurse’s uniform.

Well there is a record and she wanted to break it.
Someone went round dressed as Big Ben simply to get the record for the fastest time by someone dressed as a building.
It was a very impressive time given the weight of the costume but who on earth cares about this sort of record? The achievement lies elsewhere.
Guinness has stated what the nurse costume must consist of, and therefore contestants should adhere to this dress-code, if you will. However, I agree, it is really dated and should be changed (unless it is in a 'joke' category as someone suggested). And perhaps this nurse's action will result in a change, but as it stands now she did not qualify to win.

Running the London Marathon, or any other marathon, is a massive achievement. I agree with that, of course I do.

I am just really cross that this lady has not been record breaking status because she was wearing what is now standard nurses uniform.

I know she knew the rules before she ran and that there has to be some parity but Guinness World records need to drag itself into the 21st century.
she wasn't denied the record, Tilly, she was told the criteria in advance and chose not to meet them. I don't blame her, but there's no scope for making your own rules to win other people's awards.
There are very strict guidelines for records. It would make sense to update some of them though.
Is it easier to run in scrubs ? If going for a record one should check the criteria first. Must be disappointing though.
I sympathise totally with her.
These records are still daft though.
Ah, didn't read beyond the first paragraph. So she'd opted not to go for it anyway. Makes a news article though.
