Went to a celebration dinner for a Centenarian gentleman , on Saturday .

At the dinner also , was another Centenarian - a lady - 102 next b/day - still walking on her own .
Good night all round

First time i've seen / touched a card from the Queen

We couldn't find a card with '100' on it - her indoors had to buy a card and numbers seperately to stick on .

Have you met any Centenarians ?

no I haven't met any centenarians, sounds like you had a great time.
jesus I FEEL like a centenarian - does that count ?
Just one, my mother-in-law's sister who lived to be 101.

Here is an interesting stat -

''The number of centenarians (people aged 100 and over) living in the UK has risen by 65% over the last decade to 14,570 in 2015. Of the 14,570 centenarians living in the UK, 850 were estimated to be aged 105 or more, double the number in 2005.29 Sep 2016''
Only one, Mr U's cousin who died just before her 101st birthday. We had a good afternoon party for her 100th. Lots of duplicate cards as so little choice with 100 on them.
I was wondering about that, Baz.....perhaps you and I will still be posting when we're 100..... ;-)
My wife & I went to a party in the summer for a lady's 100th birthday. She lives just around the corner from us. Birthday cards were hanging from strings all around the walls of the church hall & I noticed that very few were duplicates. All had 100 printed on them, not the stick-on numbers. We bought ours from a garden centre & there were several designs to choose from.

The mother of an old friend of my wife died in 2016 at the age of 103. We had been to tea with her during the previous year. She lived on her own, like the other lady, did her own cooking, cake making, gardening & cleaning.
No, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting a centenarian, but I'd love to. I love the very old. I've never met anyone past 87.
Several. People tend to live to a ripe old age around here. I think it could be the country air - but many of them say it's a result of having their regular glass of Scotch every day. They call it their medicine. True.

I hope so gness
We can go hand gliding or skydiving together :-)

Or a wing walking duet maybe......x
Met a lovely 102 year old whilst researching a WWII role, sprightly, SO optimistic and a wonderful balanced lady.

I also know a fabulous 94 year old who has just made her first film! She's a scream.
If I get to be their age I'll be happy but if I'm still like them I'll be ecstatic.
My partner met a guy who used to run moonshine who said he was 105 but his son thought he was late 90's, and he was amazing too in an altogether different way, full of wild tales and jokes.

No, never have. I had a great aunt who made it to 98, and only lived 10 miles from me; I'd have loved to meet her but nobody ever told me she existed..
apparently if you're a baby today, which you probably aren't, you've got a one in three chance of reaching 100. More if you're female.
Met a few over the years, best one was a lady who was in for a hernia op. She planned to go to see her grandchildren in Australia when she recovered. I wouldn't have bet against her getting there. My first husband care home manager had a lady come in for a break while her flat was decorated. She'd been looking after her 84 year old daughter who had died. He reckoned she could have passed for mid eighties and was full of fun.
I've met 'nearly' centenarians. You know like 99 yrs old but they never made it.
