He can say it because he is black. There will be no headlines tomorrow 'Black Man slags off Churchill' No Newspaper dare, for fear of being called racist. Because white people have to tread on eggshells, eggshell from the newly hatched 'snowflake' generation who have no idea what people in the early part of the last century had to go through to make Britain what...
I am genuinely shocked. Rockrose appears to feel it is fair to draw a comparison between Churchill and a man who was responsible for the murder in horrendous ways of 6,000,000 Jews.
Crass doesn't even begin to cover such a ridiculous comparison.
//For goodness sake, AOG, you were conscripted, you didn't volunteer, you ain't no hero!! //
How dare you? Millions of young men gave their lives , conscripted or volunteers, it does not matter, so you can type in your rubbish without fear of being arrested for descent.
maggieB. It was not me nor AOG who gave to the insults perpetrated by Kehinde. Also bear in mind that were it not for the man you call a warmonger you would not be enjoying the freedom that you have now..
AOG wasn't conscripted into the war, he was too young.
His military experience comes from doing his National Service later.
Much as I dislike hearing things like that which appear to run the country down, there is no doubt that Churcill was not as saintly as some like to think. Yes, we owe him much for leading us through the war years but there are a great many of his opinions and actions with which I am uncomfortable.
jackthhat I know Churchill was not a 'saint' He was a war monger he sent thousands to their death defending the UK. That's the difference: Defending, not Attacking.
The Hitler comparison is probably made because of Churchill’s role in the Bengal Famine, where Churchill was blinded him the human suffering that led him to make decisions that prolonged and aggravated the death toll during that time.
This included deliberately halting shipments of food that might have relieved the suffering while insisting that food exports from India to Britain continue despite a famine that by mid-October 1943 was killing 2000 a month in Calcutta.
You can be a great person who makes terrible decisions, and we should be wary of people who shut down discussion of historical figures, otherwise the following threads would never have existed:
