/// After being suspended on full pay in October 2016, he was quietly reinstated last month with just a slap on the wrist by the then-Lord Chancellor David Lidington ///

With his record shouldn't he have been sacked?

Absolutely but, would that not be racist ?
Sounds a thoroughly unpleasant fellow and unfit for the job.
Totally unbelievable that this disgrace to the law profession still has a job.
Yes, he should have been fired from the position.
He should have been barred from holding any position within the law profession.
Perhaps only a matter of time before his totally unprofessional behaviour and attitude come to attention of the authorities again. I cannot help but think that had this man not been BME he would have been out of a job PDQ.
cant sack im cos hes black innit...plus theyd have to find another one to keep up the quotas...but once bitten twice shy, i can see the quandry they are in...so better the devil you know
Hopefully he'll slip up again very soon and they will get rid of him then !!!
absolutely not
or abolutely wont - they like it too much along with the moolah

should Brett Cavanagh resign after his appalling show over the last few weeks refuring any suspicion he would make a good judge ?
well he wont anyway

decent moolah and better pension - why giv ei t up
I am not sure how you get rid of a coroner....
may need a respectful address by both houses of parliament ....
It does seem pretty difficult to justify his reinstatement.

///Ultimately, only the Lord Chancellor can fire a coroner....///

Let's hope that this matter receives David Gauke's full attention as a mtter of urgency.

// it's Da cultcha innit!//
it sure is dat den !

the laternative is to hire and fire judges and coroners
or to have the American system - recently showing how good it is
i wonder if Brett K was asked by da fella - 'are you my man' and what the judge would have replied

I notice that the former deputy westminster coroner - stephanie powers QC has come aout against him - - - if only to record he was as work colleague of mine in 1978....
But incredibly, he is still in his £120,000-a-year job — despite an inquiry concluding his behaviour “amounted to serious misconduct”.

Serious misconduct usually gets you instant dismissal in the real world.
Hate to say it, but I am sure that if he had been White he would have been out on his a*se.
