SP: "I think it’s time to get out the world’s smallest violin again." - Yep tells me all I need to know, well done. Prejudice and bigotry are fine as long as it's against the right people eh?
Some of the replies on this thread caused me to feel that the Ed's words needed rereading.

There's no obligation to do so.
"Some of the replies on this thread caused me to feel that the Ed's words needed rereading."

1. They didn't need re-reading - responses on this thread may have been robust, but they are not abusive.
2. If people feel the need to re-read the Editor's comments I'm sure they're more than capable of finding them themselves.
sp, //When black or Asian people do, we have a chip on our shoulders.//

But that, as you are very well aware, is often true. In this case the charge of discrimination is, without doubt, valid. Nevertheless you don’t ‘feel like being fair and equitable’. Some yardstick!

deskdiary,// If people feel the need to re-read the Editor's comments I'm sure they're more than capable of finding them themselves.//

Agreed.

//But that, as you are very well aware, is often true.//

No. I am not aware of that, and don’t presume to tell me what I am and am not aware of.

Cheek.
Doing your best to close another thread I see sp. You allow yourself to presume what others "are aware of" do you not?
Togo

No. I’m responding to someone who has alleged something which is not true.

Excellent post. I was about to say the same thing myself although not so politely.
In light of the above comments, I have reported my misuse of reposting the message from Ed.

/// Food and manufactured products account for 51% of Africa's exports to the EU in 2016 (16%
food and beverages and 35% manufactures) ///

Perhaps they should be looking after their own people, we have enough food in Europe, so much so that we sewn a huge amount to Africa, plus all the other aid we send them.
Those figures were offered in response to a request from another member, for no other reason.

sp, hold up with your accusations. I refer you to your thread headed ‘Black People Now Need To Prove They Are Allowed In First Class Carriages.’ Not true was it.

Mamyalynne, //In light of the above comments, I have reported my misuse of reposting the message from Ed.//

Good grief! Inappropriate certainly, but misuse? How dramatic.
I am never dramatic, simply saw the error of my ways - everyone had read the message and moved on.

There was no need for me to repost it.
No, there wasn't - but there was no need to make a formal issue of it either. Best left ... but enough said. Back to the thread.
naomi24

//But that, as you are very well aware, is often true.//

That’s still not true.

Pointing out one thread does not prove your point in any way.

You’re saying that I think that black people and Asian people who complain of racial bias against them have a chip on their shoulders.

That’s cobblers.

And the title of my previous thread was obviously referring to the case in point. The same way they you did not mean that ALL white women use strategic tears to silence women on colour.

sp, //You’re saying that I think that black people and Asian people who complain of racial bias against them have a chip on their shoulders.//

No, I am not saying that. Read what I said again.

//And the title of my previous thread was obviously referring to the case in point.//

Not obvious at all. One man doesn’t equate to ’Black People’.

//The same way they you did not mean that ALL white women use strategic tears to silence women on colour.//

Pardon?
naomi24

Let me be perfectly clear here.

I am not ‘very well aware’ that when black or Asian people complain about racism it’s because we have a chip our shoulders.

Full stop.
Ignore the ‘strategic tears’ reference. I can now see that you were quoting someone else, so I was wrong to bring it up in this context.
Correction:

I am not ‘very well aware’ that when black or Asian people complain about racism it’s often because...etc

Just want to make sure I’m responding to exactly what you said.
