Italy is refusing to allow a boat with over 600 migrants to dock at it's ports. https://news.sky.com/story/italy-shuts-ports-to-rescue-ship-carrying-over-600-migrants-11401125. Good on Italy. I bet you ask those migrants where they're aiming for, I bet they say England!!

I’ve already asked about the cut-off point, fender.
None of the “welcome one and welcome all” brigade have answered!
I can't see the "welcome on welcome all" brigade on here, Bigbad..are you getting confused or am I missing something?...I have had another quick look.
Well, it would be very foolish of me to name names, wouldn’t it gness?
But I’m sure you realise I mean the people who are happy to have all the poor, hard done by from other countries landing on our shores without considering the wider picture.
Perhaps you may like to answer my cut-off point question seeing as nobody else wants to.
Anyone know where the boat is now or where it's heading?
I've never seen anyone advocate letting all and sundries land on our shores! It doesn't mean we don't have compassion though...
Italians have supplied another 2 boats to help to take them to Spain. That’s expected to take about 4 days, Jackdaw.

Your head must be well and truly in the sand, then ummmm! Do you never watch TV ?

Sorry.....I can't see anyone who wants "all" landing on our shores.....I can see a few compassionate folk who expressed concern for those on the ship.....rather than glibly mocking them....and that is what sickened us.
As I'm not one of your "welcome all" brigade I won't be answering your question.....you may have to name names if others are as puzzled as I am.

Exactly, Ummmm......amazes me to see those who have twisted things for the sake of....well I don't know what they're doing except not making any sense....x
Spathiphyllum, I asked my question at 8.37 this morning.
If you mean this post at 22.18:

"Is there a limit to the number of refugees Europe should accept?"

Yes, but we're not full. Italy, ok fair, they may be.... But there is plenty of space in Europe. I also think other continents should accept refugees. To say a specified number... It would depend on the size of the individual country.”

That’s not what I asked. Do you mean full as in there is no space left, or full as in there is not enough to go round?
Either way, do you really want to reach that point?

Who mocked these people, gness?
Who pointed the finger and said “ha ha ha, look at you”?
Perhaps you missed page one, Bigbad? The dictionary will give you the definition of mock.

perhaps the eu could put up a modern version of the mulberry harbour
in libya, it would help expidite the transfer of africas population to europe, everyone in european home with spare rooms could put up an african family or a few of its younge men, or all boats are towed back to said harbour with gun boats on the horizon if they try to depart again...sink the boats after they have disembarked, as for the international rescue ferry service boats confiscated or sunk if they persist, or find a way of sterilising the population of africa or parts of, or ask the vatican to bankroll africas poor, as they seem to deplore contraception, population control is one key to solving this problem.
OK gness, but you can count me out of the “mocking” camp and put me in the “couldn’t care less” camp.
I prefer to keep my compassion for the more deserving, rather than the chancing freeloaders.

spathiphyllum, I’ll try and decipher your first 14.18 post later, and as for the second one, that was my question to the person who opined “I SOOO wish we could deport some of the people on this thread.”
-- answer removed --
“Shows your ignorance” (Another example of someone with a different opinion being rude).
Or “ignorance is bliss” depending on which camp you are in.

Putting people in empty buildings doesn't take away their need for medical treatment, education or an income.
You’re a bit obsessed with religion today!

Question Author
This is now getting rather heated.
We are all entitled to our views.
We all understand why Italy took the stance they did.
We all know why migrants are fleeing.
But the question remains 'what to do?'
My only concern is, we are a small nation and surely there must be a limit as our own people are having trouble with finding jobs, home and food even.
Is it just Europe who have to take in migrants?
