A little story for you perhaps to raise the level of bonhomie on the thread.
In my younger days, I was medical officer to the 4th battalion Kings Own Light Yorkshire infantry and the Queen was coming to Pontefract Barracks to present the regiment with new colours. Myself and the Padre were informed that we we not to present ourselves at the ceremony as our marching was unacceptable and would spoil the effect of the parade.
The padre and myself were both white, we didn't complain or make a fuss, we understood the desires of the Commanding Officer.

Ceremonial uniforms are rather anachronistic and belong to a different era. The forces should be up to date and battle ready.
There only function now is for acting and please the US tourists.
Scrap them all (Including the turban) and save the country a fortune.
