Your serving with the regiment, the regiment is Not serving with you. Fall in line, or, fall out.

I think that this is wrong...totally wrong.
As a soldier, embracing the discipline of one of Great Britain's famous regiments, he should be obliged to wear the bearskin particularly on an event like Trooping of the Colour".
Why can't he wear the bearskin OVER his turban?
All eyes will be on Cpl Lal and that for me may mar the parade...may.
Good for Cpl Lal....nothing against him, but he, like the rest of the regiment should wear his bearskin or not parade at all.
That's you in trouble, sqad.
Prepare to be bored to death.
LOL...I am used to it Spicerack.
I think the bears will be delighted and that they will hope that more soldiers will convert.
I kind of lean to Sqad.. it IS the uniform..they ARE famous for bearskins, it IS tradition....what he wears under the bearskin does not matter...but....

If any other religions have required headgear, they will presumably have to be pandered to as well now
How would he wear a helmet if he was in action? It'd have to be a few sizes too big wouldn't it?
Clarion, I don't think they wear the bearskin in action LOL....or are you taking the ***? ;-)

he means a soldiers helmet, the one used in times of war...
Come on Squad. You know what I mean. A bear skin is hardly a helmet is it?
LOL...LOL..^^^^^
i tend to agree with most, that its part of the uniform and that he should comply with it or get out.
I know this is straying from the point, but has anyone met a Sikh they didn't like?

Great people, usually with a lovely sense of humour.
O come on sqad
be serious
if we didnt allow people to wear saris and niqabs in the NHS then
there would be NO NHS !

the days are long gone where Matron storms onto the ward and screams " take that cotton what not off your head doctor, you have just dipped it into that patients urine !"

If it doesn't bother the army why should it bother you?
Guru Nanak said Sikhs as part of the deal should help women and children in trouble - and yes I know of a Sikh who took on an IRA fund raiser in Dublin ( thought it was fun to fund raise from an obvious Brit girl) - all the Sikhs said that that would be part of the job description

So, I was tru;y deeply shocked to see some of the Rochdale convicts were Sikhs - more shocked than seeing RC priests hauled off to the slammer
Islay....one doesn't always agree with the "establishment" and it doesn't "bother" me, I am just posting an opinion to the OPer.

islay, for all you know it may well bother the Army - they may just be unable to question the decision of one or two PC bosses
Tradition is VERY important to the armed forces
