I didn't see the removed post, aog, but you did post
//Female children from that culture who are taken abroad should perhaps be examined both before going and also when arriving back. //

Which I, and some others have pointed out, is an abusive practice in itself. We are supposed to protect children, not use them like that.

Zacs-Master

I did not suggest that the children should be examined at the airport.

This is what I actually put:

Female children from that culture who are taken abroad should perhaps be examined both before going and also when arriving back.

It could be carried out by a GP just as injections and vaccinations are given, before travelling to certain countries.
If I can just act as referee here.
AOG wrote ‘Female children from that culture who are taken abroad should perhaps be examined both before going and also when arriving back’ there is NO implication of abuse here. Anyone in their right mind would assume AOG meant by medically qualified staff.

Pixie then wrote:
‘pixie374 No, aog! You can't abuse little girls on the off-chance that somebody else has too!’

I can see why AOG is a little peeved.

Mod who is looking in: pixies post should have been the one to be removed as it was insulting and was a clear and necessary diversion of the thread.
Unnecessary
That is abusive of little girls. I was NOT suggesting aog would do it himself.
Aog ,your post was probably removed because knife attacks are not relevant to this discussion,

Thank you Zacs for your kind support.
Pixie. You need to have a coffee and a calm down. You’re now saying I meant that AOG did the exam? I think you’re losing the plot!
I think pixies use of the word 'abuse' is entirely appropriate.
I would be a gross intrusion of a young girls privacy to be subjected to such an examination on the off-chance that she might have been subjected to FGM.
sp some people can't be educated, this would take years and years of so called education, and i can't see how that would come about
As I’ve said, the suggestion of an exam is derisible.
AOG suggestion that all girls be examined the only way to do this would be at the airport as I suggested as otherwise how are you going to know that this child is traveling? As I said earlier that would be abuse
SP/Zacs, whilst the suggestion of an exam might be derisible - and of course it will never happen - the suggestion in itself would likely be a deterrent.
Thanks Jack and islay- exactly what I'm saying. Then zacs, I don't understand the problem with the examination being called abusive. Others have agreed too- and I am perfectly calm, thanks xx
AOG. I think, in order to move the thread on, you should maybe admit that the practicalities of an exam are.....impractical.
I see a number of arguments being deployed explaining why nothing should be, or indeed, can be done. Funnily enough some of the positive ideas proposed here have been thought of:

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/fgm-border-force-targets-high-risk-flights-at-heathrow-to-stop-female-genital-mutilation

Of course you'd have to be discriminating (a good thing in police work, isn't it - you know they make TV programs about "profilers" and how they're used in the fight against crime?):

They're going to Somalia?
School holiday is it?
How old is the girl?

Here's another example:

https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/police-manchester-airport-warn-passengers-11642485

Mind you, that was before Andy Burnham became mayor.
Let’s just forget the notion of an exam eh?

Anyone any idea why no one has been arrested?

Risk of ‘racial abuse’ perhaps? I’m sure that’s the implication.
The airport idea is ridiculous as is the notion that we can educate it away.

Of course education is necessary but there should also be some high profile prosecutions that will serve as a deterrent.

Forget the religious and cultural angle ... The welfare of children should always come first.
Yes, Talbot, some very heavy and well-publicised prosecutions to start with.
