Yet another one falsely accused, and evidence held back by the Police and yet she enjoys anonymity whilst his reputation is tarnished forever (You will always get the idiotic no smoke no fire brigade)

Heads need to start rolling.

jno, apart from being irrelevant to this thread your point is far too simplistic. To take an overall statistic and then compare it to an overall decrease in Police numbers is pointless. You need to analyse the crimes, anaylse the police reductions and then draw deductions. Having more bodies really doesnt automatically equate to solving more crimes, I am sure there are some PolicePersons who are worth 3 or 4 of their colleges as in any job or profession.
I think their anonyminity should be preserved until they're found guilty. Did anyone watch the BBC doc 'Second Chance Sex Offenders'? (linked below). In the USA they put signs up outside people's houses in they have been charged. Eye opening documentary. There really are some horrible people in the world.

Quite a lot of rape cases hinge on consent or not. It stands to reason then to establish the behavior and attitude of each party in the build up to the alleged offence. Social media and texts etc are key evidence in those situations. If they are getting left out it's at best incompetency at worst attempting to effect the trail. In fact in the case concerned I'm worried that plod knew of the withheld evidence and still went ahead with the prosecution via CPS. Surely if they knew what has now come to light they should have told the silly woman to go away at the outset. I worry for the genuine cases going forward.
The main problem is police incompetence. In this case and in many others, even a basic inspection of the evidence would have shown that there was serious doubt as to the validity of the allegations. I know it has to do with 'women's rights' and 'equality' which are very much PC at the moment. But a balance must be achieved.
I also agree that anonymity MUST be for BOTH sides in such cases. The present system means a female can make a totally false rape allegation safe in the knowledge that her identity can never be disclosed or that there will be any adverse consequences for her.
but you've just found someone else you want prosecuted. The person who does this is going to have to spend less time doing something else. Sometimes you can reduce staff and not affect output. But this is not one of those times, as your OP demonstrates - unless like dannyk you assume the failings are deliberate, in which case you need to produce the evidence for this.
jno, so you think that these failings are a coincidence?
Question Author
yes jno, whatever.

Anything to say about the OP or are you going to ignore it as usual?
jno stop trying to turn this into a political rant about police numbers, start your own thread if you want to.
eddie no doubt there is incompetence but when it's this obvious it looks a lot like it's deliberate to me. The whole thing stinks.
Be interesting to see what our female ABers views are on this are.

They are normally most 'vocal' on this site, but for some strange reason they now all seem to be busy doing other things it would seem.
i agree that both should have anonymity until the person is charged and jailed. And if the woman has lied as happens in these few cases that we have seen lately then they should be named in court.
i am busy doing other things, like other threads, if that is ok with you....
and any false allegation should see the woman go to jail.
Thank you emmie, just interested in your views, all in the interest of equality, nothing more.
Perhaps we need the wisdom of New Judge here, to answer this next question ::::

If the woman in this case is prosecuted for conspiracy, and any other crime that can be pinned on her, and she is found guilty, will her name be released to the media, or will her original anonymity be respected ?
What do you expect us to say, AOG?

What she done was despicable. There are no ifs and buts about it. That should be taken as given, we don't have to spell it out.

The police had evidence though, they are in the wrong as well.
I understand in most cases why anonymity for both isn't done and that's disappointing, anyone falsifying evidence in a case should face the law on that.

The added layer of evidence held back or not disclosed means grief for those affected, that needs addressing now.
Mikey...they've been named previously.
Women such as this deserve to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
However, a failed prosecution does not mean that the woman lied and we should be careful in demonising these women further.
