Are men becoming worse, or is it being reported more now?

From Hollywood, to the fashion industry, to sports, to Westminster, to television - in the past couple of years on an almost daily basis, we have been seen stories of men abusing their position - grooming, assaulting, raping, molesting and so on.

Is it because women are more likely to come forward (even those there are some who want them to be 'named and shamed' should their claim of assault/rape not be upheld), or something more insidious about men in the 21st century?

The choice at the moment in the media is brexit or the sexual abuse cases .
I am going to get so screamed at here, but I truly believe that both men and women ‘victims’ jump on the bandwagon. Any abuse is obviously horrific, but like any crime there will always be chancers.
Yes, we are seeing a swing back - get your frilly knicks on girls and your short frocks,so he wants to cop a handful? it's a job after all.

Grow up girls!

You have to sigh a bit.
I'm tired listening about " this bandwagon" everyone is jumping on. Any evidence ?
i think its because its been reported more, shame on the men that do this sort of thing, i see that chap who abused all the gymnasts and daughters of friends, got 175 years in jail, good..
I am also getting a tad peed off with that phrase "bandwagon"

If the current cases have persuaded people to come forward with their complaints, then all well and good.

And its not just young female starlets that have been subjected to appalling abuse. There is a high profile abuse case going through the Courts at the moment, involving young boy footballers.
It's always been going on. Women are reporting it more instead of just putting up with it.
Reported more..but....women ,and men come to that, have a duty of care to themselves which is not always observed...there have been cases of closing the horses door after it has bolted, so to speak.... and also false claims for financial gain have been recently proven in celebrity cases
Mikey/Anneasquith, you might be tired of hearing ‘bandwagon’, but unfortunately some people are very fond of them and do take any opportunity to jump aboard. In the current climate I have a lot of sympathy for men. Treading on eggshells doesn't make life easy.
Like you, I also feel sorry for men. But not the ones that have been subjecting actresses to the casting couch all their working lives. I also have a distinct lack of sympathy with all the men that think its OK to grope women in the work place, or on trains and busses.

I notice that there is also an almost complete absence of high-profile women abusing young men......most of that abusing seems to come from other men.
Mikey, actresses who progress their career via the casting couch make that choice. Willing participants are not victims. As for male victims of women predators, I guess most men who are subjected to sexual advances from women don’t mind at all which is why they don’t complain.
The trains..workplace etc..Has ever been thus...if I had a pound for every occasion .... a good slap and at times knee in the groin worked wonders..threatened one boss with call to wife...got promotion ! Lol
murraymints, me too. I don't think I know any woman who hasn't been on the receiving end of .... cough ... erm ..... uninvited attention.
I did slap the wrong bloke once though. :o/
Naomi....a post of breath-taking ignorance. Yesterday a multi abuser was jailed for 175 years, for sexually abusing women.

Your stance that women allowed themselves to be abused in order to advance their careers is highly offensive.

Harvey Weinstein is said to have abused 1000's of women in his long career, and its all his fault, not his victims.
Mikey, //Your stance that women allowed themselves to be abused in order to advance their careers is highly offensive.//

No it isn’t. It’s true – and I’m not ignorant either. Anyone who went willingly into Harvey Weinstein's bedroom chose to go and knew what to expect.

Watched this on the news last night. A lady judge passed sentence eith the words " I sentence you to 175 years in gaol" and ,as he was being taken away, she added "I have just given you a death sentence"
They do things different in America.
To be fair mikey..some starlet types are not victims and use their womanly charms to get a result... I know of a couple of females who have bragged openly about how they zoomed up the ladder at work...the weaker sex days have gone ! It would be very naive not to acknowledge that some are manipulative wee Madame with an agenda...similarly with football players ..as an ex wag I know about ,and have seen first hand ,what lengths some go to !
Madams ^^
Sexual abuse is a heinous crime but sadly there are people who claim sexual abuse or cry rape for their own perverse reasons or vicious gain.

It does nothing to help the real victims.
