Wow a £6,000 fine ...
Question Author
interestingly he'd have been quite ok to drive after 2 port and brandies, now that's a strong drink but he'd have passed the breathalyzer, makes you think......
The fine seems a bit steep, but I suppose he can afford it.
I've only once had a port and brandy, for medicinal purposes. If you have the trots it doesn't half settle your guts and is much more pleasant to take than other medication.
// he "honestly didn't think" he had been over the legal limit //
after four port and brandies?
I think all drink-drivers should be banned for a lot longer than 1 year. A close relative of mine was recently banned for 2 years. Knowing him for the wassock that he is, I would much prefer him to have been banned for longer !

But to be fair to Tarrant, he said this ::::::

After the hearing, he told reporters: "I made a mistake and I paid for it. I shouldn't have driven."

So mea culpa.
i traditionally finish christmas lunch with a port and brandy but after four i'd probably be wobbling on my walk home ...

i used port and brandy for medicinal purposes, as i had a bug which wouldn't go, boss of the pub where i worked said here drink this, i did and afterwards felt infinitely better
I can honestly say that I have never heard of a Port and Brandy !

When I was a young man in the 70's, Brandy and Babycham was a popular drink amongst young women, and my Grannie used to like a Port and Lemon at Xmas.
A mixture of prot and brandy is well known. As well as being a very pleasant (though reasonably strong) drink, as I and emmie attest, it has medicinal benefits. I have neither at home but am going to stock up because as I said, it does wonders for an upset stomach.
Prot! Apologies for the typo.
jack, asking for a prot and brandy will probably result in the barman refusing to serve you
Brandy and Babycham was usually termed a knickerdropper. Never worked for me though!
Jack! jack! it is the woman who has to drink it :-) ^^^^^
I agree with Emmie & Jack, port and brandy is very good for an upset stomach.
LOL @ sqad. They're much cheaper leg-openers than port and brandy :-) Mateus Rosé was my favourite :-)
Chuckle at Sqad ....
Personally I prefer to finish the bottle of Port and then start on the Brandy.
