What on earth qualifies her for the big job?
as i said yesterday on another thread she is a strong African American woman that many could identify with, but has she got any political experience, I mean Trump didn't and he got in - not sure she would want the job to be fair.

she's big on TV, Hopkirk; you don't think that would be enough to get anyone to the presidency?
Is this Oprah's idea .... or someone else speculating on her behalf?
//What on earth qualifies her for the big job?//.Probably more qualified than the present incumbent.
others speculating would be my guess.
Looking at some of the occupants of the White House in the past, I can't see why Oprah shouldn't do at least as good a job. Has everybody forgotten that old B movie actor that was in position a few years ago.

And Trump seems to entirely unqualified for any political office.
If the ability to stare intently as if interested while someone relates a tale of woe and turning on tears at the right moment then cutting to some fluffy non-story and making that the most important thing in the world count for anything then yes, Oprah for prez.

Otherwise, get a grip.
Mikey, Reagan's best known film was 'Bedtime for Bonzo'

Where he played a secondary role to a monkey.
Making a speech at the Golden Globes could be enough to make you president. Wonderful.
Eddie....I know !

I don't see why not.
if she was up to it and really considered doing the job she would have to start her campaign soon. 2020 isn't that far away and going on US politics its takes a long time to campaign and then do the rounds of political activists. I wouldn't envy her at all.
Jeez....she just made a speech at an awards show. People are running away with themselves...
Ridiculous idea. I despair at politics turning into a cousin of show business. Can we please just keep Trump contained as an anomaly and go back to at least trying to elect people with experience and governing skills?
I am not sure where is suggestion has come from.....not from Oprah herself, to my knowledge anyway.

I would like to see Michelle Obama stand personally !
I completely agree that the present incumbent is totally unsuitable.
However the fact he is there is not an argument for someone else unprepared for the job to be installed.
she'll be no worse that the last democrat nominee!

The idea of President Oprah may have gained traction this week, but it’s something that has been talked about for quite some time. I first heard chatter about this in Obama’s second term.

On the face of it, she isn’t any less qualified than Trump, but she if she decided to run, she’s got some major hurdles to clear - she has no political organisation and her business ties could be problematic (as Trump can attest).

But then again - Trump has opened the gates for political outsiders to take a punt at the Presidency. Oprah has the money to fund a race, and she is hyper-popular amongst Democrats...and Americans aren’t adverse to electing celebrities to public office (Sonny Bono, Arnold Schwartzenegger, Clint Eastwood, Ronald Reagan...)
