That's kind of the problem though, sp. Trump if nothing else is a cautionary tale in how dangerous it is to elect a reality TV star rather than someone who is actually an experienced politician. You're right, of course, that the USA has previous form in this area - and frankly it is horrifying and dangerous.
ummmm, making speeches is quite important if it shows you can sway people. It's particularly so if you're able to articulate what a lot of people are feeling.

As I remember, that was how Bush junior first came into the spotlight as a presidential possibility (he'd been governor of Texas, though, and came from a political family). The Republicans were wondering where to go after Clinton was elected; Bush seemed to be able to present their ideals in a way that they thought might persuade the public.
Soap oprah stuff from Trump: he probably thinks he'd win easily as she's a black female.
I know they're important but making a good speech at ceremony awards doesn't mean someone is going to run for presidency.
oh, no, I don't expect that to happen. (But then I didn't expect Trump to happen either.)
Hopkirk - // I completely agree that the present incumbent is totally unsuitable.
However the fact he is there is not an argument for someone else unprepared for the job to be installed. //

That pretty much perfectly sums up the argument.

Americans can have difficulty in separating television and film from reality - which has led to Mr Trump's turn on The Apprentice being parlayed into suitability for major political office, when clearly it is anything but.

A parallel is the X Factor - someone's friends and family who love them and what then to live their 'dream' persuade them that they have a talent which they clearly do not possess, and they audition for the show.

This is borne from a desire for their loved one to succeed, coupled with less than no knowledge of what is actually required - until a panel of judges who do know what is required put the individual straight about the reality of their 'dream' being realised.

I am sure Ms Winfrey is possessed of more than sufficient self-awareness to know what her strengths and weaknesses are in the political arena, which is why she is a tv host.

Did he say that or is it you slinging mud and hoping it sticks?
I cant see any reason why Oprah couldnt run. Her Net worth is $3.1 Bn so plenty of brass to fund it as SP says.

Personally I despise career politician, most simply lie and twist and have no clue about anything so I fail to see how they can be considered as better than Oprah, Trump or Reagan.
funny how all the liberal lefties say trump isn't qualified to be a president but want Oprah to be president.

this nice lovely Oprah.

remember shes best mates with Cosby and Clinton.
Notice you've all deserted the lovely Hillary since it became obvious she's going to prison. :-(
Trump will be in prison before Hillary ever will.
Or psychiatric hospital perhaps.
You could anuse me by telling us which crime Clinton is going to jail for.
Well, you could ...
i think Donald slings enough mud at himself .
He needs no help from me. He is neither a racist nor a MCP. The very idea :-)
'Trump will be in prison before Hillary ever will.'

11-8 Benghazi
4-1 selling uranium to the Russians
25-1 her part in the Clinton Foundation satanic child abuse ring
