yet another little child is left dead at the hands of a parent, appalling case and social services must take some of the blame.
A perfectly run Social Services will never exist and as tragic (and disturbing) this death is, hoping for a 100% successful case rate from any organisation is very naive.
zacs no one expects 100 percent success rate, but surely the mother should have come on the radar of social services,
A so-called "exorcism ritual" Jeremiah's mother underwent when four months pregnant was only seen by council officials after a video was published by a national newspaper.
Is this the case that is showing cctv footage from inside thier sitting room?
I'm not about to discuss the whys and wherefores of the case except to say, wherever human beings are involved in a system, there will always be errors.
emmie, do you think that the national newspaper may be partially to blame for withholding the video from the council?
Have they said "lessons will be learned" yet?

ZM: " perfectly run Social Services will never exist " - that's because they staff it with hand wringing lefty idiots.
Have you had much dealings with SS?
This case does raise concerns about the professional curiosity of the many staff from different agencies who knew Jeremiah and his mum Sindyann.

Somehow they failed to realise that Chevaze McGregor had become involved in their lives and presented a danger to them both. If social workers had known they may have been able to intervene.

It also raises questions about Wolverhampton. Five young children killed in less than 10 years.
Tora, am I to believe that you think that a Social Services staffed by more right wing people would be perfect?
somehow these little children are falling through the cracks in the social services system. No one can predict that a man or woman might be violent to their offspring, but this case was borne out by video evidence of the man beating the child.
TTT never misses an opportunity to give 'the left' a good kicking even if it means using the tragic death of a child to do so.

The ultimate blame lies in the hands of the step-father. Social Services are in an invidious position, accused of interfering when they appear in people's family business and dereliction of duty when tragedies like this occur.

no ZM I want it staffed by people with common sense. I'll take a leaf out of billy connolly's book, anyone who wants to be a social worker should be automatically excluded. For Funks Sake these brainless buffoons time and again get it wrong, with their right on platitudes and BS these cases happen again and again and children die because "it's their culture" etc yada yada.
I'm sure a large proportion of SS staff have common sense but your expectations are unrealistic.

I can understand you getting emotional about this but unfortunately expecting a 100% success rate is, as I said, naive.
what about the thousands of children that are protected every month?
what about those 5 children killed in Wolverhampton, that is just one place, how many lose their lives because of inattention from all the agencies involved.
Lessons are never learnt.
I'm sure lessons are learned but each case is individual so there's no 'one-size-fits-all' solution.
// Is this the case that is showing cctv footage from inside their sitting room?//
yes it is Cassa
I wondered about that: how would a woman on benefits put in CCTV black and white without sound .....
I concluded it was post death police CCTV gathered under RIPA
( no baby on screen )

Five preventable deaths in Wolverhampton
... questions will be asked ( no least by 3T )
