Why wasn't it deemed unlawful under the Religious discrimination act?

Well it would have been if they had banned Islam.

I would have thought that for the majority of students religion of any kind would not be very high on their list of priorities.
The students have backtracked and the CU will be invited to next year's event.

ANOTHEOLDGIT, if you used a pen to write a letter to someone, would you say you "wrote" it or would you say you "penned" it?
the students of today should not be exposed to ideas. It would only give them ... ideas, I suppose.

/// Yep.
All writing stopped with the invention of the typewriter in
1874. ///

Wrong again, no it didn't there are still some of us who were educated to write, which we do on a regular basis, one uses a pen generally.

My headline was typed on a computer key board, be it electronic instead of the usual mechanical typewriter key board.
AOG
The worlds first mechanical Excavator, for digging even bigger holes, was invented in 1882.
I'll have my spade back then.

Self appointed PA for Islay now are you, what great heights you reached in your quest to covert friends?

Re my spelling mistake, I am sure that youngmafbog won't take me to task over it, seeing that it was a simple mistake to make because the f and g key happen to be next to each other.

But since you have also took on yet another self appointed role, that being master checker of spelling mistakes, I am sorry to inform you that you have been sacked for not noticing that I have missed the 'R' out of Express.

And you, yourself must be very grateful for that?

Like I care about you sniping at me - you simply can't help it, and that's really sad for a man of your supposed maturity.

Go right ahead, take your own thread off-topic with your insatiable need to pick fights and argue, and see it deleted.

... and yet ...

With all your bickering you both missed the 'r' in covet.

Unless we're talking undercover friends.
WOW a_h referring to another aber's attitude as 'stunningly patronising'. You couldn't make it up ...
Perhaps I shouldn't have posted a valid comment on this thread at 15:57. Looking at what's gone before, it seems somewhat out of place.
I think students will never change. The chance to march for the 'underdog', fist clenched and held aloft, tatty placards nailed to broom handles extolling the virtues of one or other bunch of vicious thugs.
Right up to the point where they're on the bus/train/street where true colours are shown and they're scooped into a pail for ID later.

Wizard wheeze etc.
Balliol College fair organisers and the Oxford Union aren't the same thing.
jno, I'm aware of that.
Yes, but gone down a bit since Jowett's day, hasn't it.

Pity, I remember Potts from University Challenge, and very good he was too.
Great if Baliol bans all religions from exhibiting. However, even if one is shown, then all should be.

Some consistency across OU would be welcome but that is not how the Uni works, the omnipresence and power of the individual college and its inmates.
//Great if Baliol bans all religions from exhibiting.//

Why?

// However, even if one is shown, then all should be.//

Why?
one or the other, secular environment or all in - any colour called grey in saying, 'yes, you are in' and 'no, you are not', is prejudice - if the religion is a legal one.
