Wow, are they finally dragging themselves into the 21st century? Perhaps they'll stop stoning women for adultery when they've been raped. Or is that too much to hope for?

As long as they don't allow old men wearing hats to drive Volvo's.
Or any men, driving BMWs, that are always 10 inches behind your rear bumper, as experienced yesterday in the Cotswolds.
When I worked there late 70s early 80s they built a new girls school and it was left empty as it was better than the boys school so they wouldn't let the girls use it. They said it would remain empty until a new boys one had been built.
Goodness me, at this rate women will be entitled to free speech by the middle of the next millennium.
That's very nice of them, one thing I would like to see completely banned in the UK Is the use of the Burka on a point of road safety AND only on the point of road safety.
More like this I think DT. :))

The Saudis know that the oil will be drying up at some point, so the only way they can see forward (sorry TWR ! xx) is to start changing their ways, softlee softlee chatchee monkee.
......and you don't see things like this is Newcastle, either.....

Which women are leading the better life though, sqad?
JTH....what are we looking at?
talbot......it depends upon what you mean by a "better life".
Saudi women are born into that custom and only know that way of life, being protected and by and large well looked after and provided for.
The ones that i have encountered seem to regard looking after their husbands, providing for his comfort and bearing his children as the norm. It is the well educated Saudi women that are pushing for change, equality or whatever you would like to call it, but that will eventually come......with a price.
It's good news. A retarded hell-hole becomes slightly less retarded.
The Saudi woman next door to me doesn't seem to have trouble driving. I shall tell her husband and son to oppress her more forcefully in future, in order to satisfy British preconceptions.

That is because she is in the UK.
Unless the guardianship laws are also looked at it doesn't help Saudi women all that much really.
It is from women like this that I gather my 'preconceptions'

I actually followed that story from the very beginning on Twitter ... not nice.

Not sure if youtube is working.
Her current whereabouts are not known.
I don't think jno at 11:26 really has the hang of this thread.
talbot.....i am not sure what the "antics" of one Saudi woman has to do with the overall picture, but i take you point as from where you get your information.
Yes - it comes to something ( is that a correct phrase ) when this most basic of activities everywhere else , makes world headline news .

Hell , they'll be allowing them to talk to people they don't know , next
